These are two really good pitchers going at it in Coral Gables.

but then you still have Pomeranz ready to jump into that Friday role. But not to fear, we'll get a coach who'll get these guys to Starkville instead of Oxford pretty soon. If we hire the right guy, I believe Ole Miss's heyday in this state has reached its peak and will start declining.

Funny thing is, alot of Ole Miss's studs are from out of state. I'm just still pissed about Stephen Head and Seth Smith.

That's small time thinking. There is no reason we can't both have success. It doesn't have to be one or the other. And honestly I don't think our program will just go away. Your program won't go away either. You may go through some down years, but you're going to be back having good years eventually, because the funding and support is there.

Not unless Jackie wanted to burn a full football scholarship on him and let him play baseball like Cutcliffe did. The instate guys that MSU could have had that they missed out on were guys like Head, Pettway, Power (legacy), and Cozart (Memphis but close enough). MSU went with Kaeton over Cozart which honestly probably looked like the right move at the time. Also went with Jeffery Rea over Justin Henry which worked out well for both schools.

but I thought I read something a few years ago that said that Pettway grew up an Ole Miss fan?

What you said about Kateon makes sense except that I've always felt that you should go after the best players regardless. We may have promised the SS job to Bunky, but going hard after Cozart makes sense because you could switch one of the two to a different position. Baseball players aren't like some of the other sports where you can't make a QB into a CB. Same thing with Henry and Rea- plus you also got Jordan his little brother.

That could be right. Pettway didn't do a whole lot until his last year. He hit 6 Hr's then out of nowhere he hit 21 his last year I think.</p>

at Ole Miss. Once you get that pipeline going Morris, Cliburn, Smith, Head, Power, Satterwhite...it is tough to change it.
