Things for Polk to do in retirment thread

1. Get out of Stakville. I say this with all due respect and please understand if you had handled the situation better, everyone would have wanted you around for years. However, YOU have made a mess of your leaving. Raffo probably wont be hired, and the new coach wont want you around talking about how Raffo could have done it better. Hell even Raffo wont appreciate having you around to remind everyone that he owes his job soley to you.
Since you are leaving, here are some ideas
2. Go to France and teach them baseball, become an ambasador for baseball over seas. Try and make it the WORLD WIDE sport instead of soccer. Its probably tilting at windmills, but you are pretty good at that, and it would be a noble cause.
3. Go yourself some kind of job coaching Highschool baseball, or a traveling baseball team. No way you are content to stay at home and do nothing, do something that involves baseball but doesnt involve the NCAA. Life is too short, you lost that fight. Enjoy the twilight years.

Others may have better ideas.

He did say that he is getting a computer, maybe he will get a eharmony.com profile very soon.

I could see the ad- "Hi! I'm Ron Polk, former head coach of the Mississippi State Bulldogs, and I hit a home run with Ethel on ehaormony.com!"

"We have so much in common- we both hate the NCAA and smoke cigars. And we like to take in a good baseball game every once in awhile."

Now seriously, this will sound crazy, but I really think he needs to go into broadcasting. Fox SS has Dave Neal and a guy who really was a basketball player who happened to also play baseball in college. It's a joke. Dave Neal and Ron Polk would be a great for the SEC games. I have heard Polk announce a game before- it was the 1998 Mayor's Trophy Game, (with Dave Neal) and he did a really good job. He is insightful and funny. TV would be a great forum for him to blast the NCAA and make people aware- especially from someone that is well respected like Polk. Plus doing the SEC game of the week would allow him to see all of his old friends from around the SEC. He also could do ESPN when they do the SR and CWS, which would be another great place for him to rip the NCAA- and it would probably have a lot more impact than writing 60 page letters.
