Some of this is just commonsense stuff but I vehemently disagree with Slide 22 on fences. Down here in DFW everybody lives behind privacy fences. I must confess, burglars love them!

As a victim of burglary in 2006 I tore down my privacy fence. Now, neighbors can see into my backyard and vice versa. If you must have a fence then put up a see-thru one. Also, a police detective once told me not to waste money trying to make your domicile burglary proof. The best you can do is make your place a harder target than your neighbors. Then, burglars will move on. That's the cold, hard truth. Burglars are opportunists and by nature, lazy.
