ODU OC Dave Patenaude announced his resignation on Friday, three weeks before the beginning of the season. Patenaude hadn't coached a game at ODU, being hired in January of this year to replace Kirk Campbell who was fired at the end of the 2021 season. Campbell followed Rahne from PSU where Campbell had spent three seasons as an offensive analyst.

Doesn't help his efforts in that opening match-up with the VaTech Prowling Pry's.

Strange. I can't find any chatter on the reason.
I was kind of liking ODU +7.5 too.

Patenaude resigned
No, its not good because ultimately it was Rahnes decision to bring him on. I will say Rahne decides he made a bad decision, he is quick to change.

I will say the people I asked tonight about it did not have good things to say about Patenaude. Rahne does not play around, rightly or wrongly.

RE: Patenaude resigned

I do appreciate that Rahne is quick to right the course. Worst case it’s Rahne calling plays. He was good enough to call plays at Penn State, so we are in good hands.

So, after Yurich leaves, we are looking as Patenaude to be PSU's next OC?

The timing of this is weird, for sure. I suspect former Lion Kevin Reihner might get tapped to be the new OC.

That would be interesting, but isn't his total coaching experience rather limited to this point? I'd guess Rahne will take over the OC duties himself for this season, maybe then re-assess Reihner and look at other candidates. Someone's bound to be on the market after this season.

Yeah, but he called the plays in the Myrtle Beach Bowl.
