administration, I'd agree. However, he's seen from the past couple of days that he has the backing to do whatever he needs to do to take Mississippi State back to the upper echelon. Think about it...150 in Starkville and a couple of hundred loud, cowbell-ringing fans at a Press Conference for a COLLEGE BASEBALL COACH????
Back in the day, selecting a college baseball coach would've been done in the football athletic offices between the assistants at the start of spring semester, each drawing a straw to see who wanted the job so they could make a few extra bucks. Of course, this would've had to been done some time before the Head Coach came in, because he wanted his guys out recruitin' football players, not shitbirding around the offices playing card games or thinking about baseball.
Even now, a college baseball coach is still not going to get much publicity. I think Ron Polkczynski's nuclear-bomb-sized ***** fit has unified the fan base FOR Cohen and Byrne, and has helped increase interest in baseball next spring.
