This football season - regardless of the finish....

First of all I want to say thank you to you guys on this board. It's a long story and I'm not going to get into it but in my little world, I consider you guys my friends as we share a common goal with the FB team. It's been really fun and healthy for me to interact with you guys these past couple of months.

Somebodies gotta say it...... at this point, worst case scenario is we finish with 2 losses and go 8-5 on the season. I'm willing to bet that any one of us would have taken that outcome with a smile at the start of the season. It just answers so many questions.....

The main question going into the season was this: Would Shane survive this season if it went badly? I believe it was a very valid question, especially with a new AD coming in. Not only has Shane survived, he's thrived.....and shut up a lot of people and their doubts, including mine to some degree. I have said I wanted Shane to "work out" and be our Coach because he would likely be here for life and that's something we're not used to as Gamecock fans. Well, all those questions and grumblings have been silenced, and rightfully so. I don't care if it's his upbringing around Frank, or whatever it is..... HE IS NOT AFRAID of the "big boys." At all.

We have answers now. Answers we didn't have at the start of this year, and answers we didn't know when he was hired. We are at minimum a solid, competitive, team with anyone in the country.
I'm 52 years old and I remember the days of us continuously sucking, year after year. Being barely mediocre and praying for the days when we would at least be "competitive." - Well, we're here. Those days have finally arrived. Even if we lose the last 2, nothing will change from us being a solid, competitive, team.

It will be easier this off season to walk around proud for a change. Feeling good about the future - and we should feel good about the future. We weren't sure if this season would lead to a light at the end of the tunnel or return us to a black hole of mediocrity or worse. Now, we know. We will escape the black hole of mediocrity and have a very good season. One we can build on. Obviously, Beamer can recruit and use the portal pretty good too.....this season will only make those things easier. Winning begets winning. There's just absolutely no question in my mind that we are moving in the right direction under Beamer.....and I begrudgingly even say Loggains too. I wish to God we could pay the DC what he wants to stay here and maybe we will.

I'm just really happy right now guys, and hope all of you have a great Thanks Giving. That's all. Carry on.....

Being old school and unashamed of it, I look at any season where we have to sit on a loss to UPC until next season as tragically marred. I hope it won't come to that. I remember, and still live in, the rivalry as it was when we were in a conference together. The rivalry should transcend that consideration, though. It always will with me. We need to beat those sumb!tches.

Agree, there is success and then there is triumph. Beating UPC will make it a triumphant season.

It’s true. Almost no one thought we were winning 8 games this year. 8 was the ceiling. Now entering rivalry week, we have some real possibilities ahead of us. Then of course, if only the LSU game would have been called correctly…

Very happy with our team this year. There’s been some dumb stuff, and Beamer better work to keep the progress going next year, but we’ve come a long way from 2023.

I never thought at the beginning of this season, and certainly didn't think so a third of a way through it, that we'd be sitting here within striking distance of the college football playoff with a game to play. We can lament the screw job by the refs against LSU until the cows come home, but the fact is, this season has gone much better than I expected. I love the feeling of being relevant this late in the season.

Having said that . . . the Carolina/Clemson football game is the event around which my entire sports year revolves. The Big Kahuna, if you will. March Madness, the World Series, the Masters, the Olympics, and yeah, even the Superbowl, are all mere distractions to help pass the time until the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This game must be won. Oh, sure, years from now, I can look back and say that a given season was "successful" even if it ended with a loss to the Tigers, but that will never happen in the 12 months immediately following such a disaster. If I am to feel good about this season in the next year, we must beat Clemson.

Even Ole Miss, it was ugly, but mainly because of a handful of big plays and poor decisions. For the most part our defense stopped them and our offense couldn't finish drives.

Yes. Been a season of surprises and enjoyment. Hard to pick a favorite moment/part but I will go with officially ending the Missouri playoff chatter. I don’t know why they have become one of the teams that someone in the preseason is going to get a hardon for as a big time contender. They never are. Drinkwitz tried to put them back in the conversation and whatever illusions that carried evaporated with 15 seconds left in the game the following week.
Now if there’s a win this weekend then the favorite part of the season will change instantly.

That last 3 minutes against Missouri has to be the best. What an incredible finish! First game I'd been to in a couple years, and it was well worth the price of admission.

I thought he was responding to my post about never looking like we didn't belong on the field with the opposition. Even in our worst game against Ole Miss it wasn't like we looked overmatched. Too often that's been the case in years past.
