If Notre Dame went anywhere, it would ultimately be the Big Ten I suppose. That being said, all of their sports outside football are tied to the ACC and their never-ending media rights agreement. I also believe if they join a conference, the ACC has first right of refusal, so there would have to be some horse trading before that became a reality.

I also think it’s more likely that Cal goes than Stanford.

Those divisions are kinda awkward, splitting up Indiana/Purdue (though it's fair to point out that those 2 are currently split), USC/Notre Dame, and Northwestern/Illinois.

I would suggest:
West - UCLA, USC, Oregon, Washington, Stanford, Notre Dame
Westish - Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin
Central - Illinois, Northwestern, Indiana, Purdue, Michigan, Michigan State
East - Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech

This would get the SEC down to 15, which then goes to 24 with ACC/Big 12 teams.

Notre Dame isn’t going to the Big 10. And no way Big 10 ever takes Stanford or Cal. This is fantasy.
