At the end, my dementia-riddled F-I-L remembered no one's identity (not even his wife of 53 years), but he could sing virtually any old church hymn word-for-word. Including the third verse. Uncanny.
Having played trumpet in the past I’m impressed he was able to hit the higher notes. It takes muscle control to do that. He is still awesome and I bet he was exceptional when he was a young man.
Damn onions. Music originates and is stored in a different area of the brain than speech and spatial awareness. It’s why people who stutter can sing without a hitch.
Music is extremely powerful.
