i hate seeing federer lose, but today really wasn't his day. don't get me wrong - nadal played GREAT. and federer made some unbelievable shots. but he just couldn't win the big points - mainly, his 1 for 14 on break chances (or whatever he finished with). federer's serve was off early, which cost him the first and probably the second set. his forehand kept him in it, and the rain delay certainly saved his *** (like nadal's injury timeout last year).
federer will still compete for the slams. i thnk he'll still be THE GUY to beat (except of course in paris). it's just that now, there is someone right there with him. nadal has improved his game amazingly over the last couple of years, so much so, that he is as right there with federer in all facets of the game. nadal seems like a "good kid", and it cracks me up when they talk about him driving a minivan around the island. good for him.
the us open should be VERY interesting. it's not a dirt court like wimbledon is these days.</p>
