They were three of the most exciting games I've ever witnessed...
1978- Guman takes the pitch for a TD on 4th down... Sometime wonder what would've happened if we called the same play in the Sugar Bowl.
1980- Blackledge was moving the offense down the field and attempted to throw the ball out of bounds and it got picked off. (I guess the ball was not spiked back then.) I can still see the Pitt bench mobbing the player. (Williamson?)
1982- Kenny Jackson makes a first down catch then takes it to the house. Gancitano kicks the field goal to seal the win. Marino pretty much shut down if I recall correctly.

The 80 game was right in front of me . Todd did not attempt to throw it out of bounds , he invertedly threw away but Carlton Williamson picked off before the ball hit the ground . Todd said after ward he never saw him .

Yes Carlton Williams. Went on to have a pretty good pro career. Another of my favorites was ‘77 and Ron Hostetler stopping Elliot walkers 2pt attempt in the snow.

Let’s not forget the 1979 coin toss, where Pitt won the toss and chose to kick off (not defer, but kick off)

Fred Jacobs .... academic titan.

I had a coworker who was a Pitt graduate. Good engineer and great friend. We discussed PSU vs. Pitt daily at work.

He had nothing good to say about Fred Jacobs after this display. He especially liked the PSU representatives at the pregame coin toss and how they enjoyed Fred's performance.

I’m still bummed out I missed the ‘78 game in Beaver stadium as I was supposed to join a bunch of my buddies for the game. They had a great time as usual. However, my father was in the Cleveland Clinic recovering from cardiac bypass surgery, so I was in Cleveland visiting him in the hospital and not in State College.
