Hanging out by the club pool before they shut down this week….
1. Allar. As.Advertised. Kid was on for the most part. Couple of errant throws, but that is part of the learning process.
2. WVU’s offensive line handled the interior of the Psu D- Line. They were impressive. PSU has been identified as having athletes all over the field, but the lack of fat guys who can clog up the middle was an issue. In the first quarter, the defense looked a little off balance because of the lack of size in the middle. I guess Izard was held out. Surprised that Durant got the start.
3. Kalen King did not have a pass thrown his way. But Johnny Dixon and the safeties played extremely well. The one long pass along the sideline may have been more of an issue of the LB missing his assignment (DeLuca) rather than Dixon missing his.
4. Manny’s hair was just…..delicously perfect. He had the most perfect wave this side of the Banzai Pipe Line.
5. WVU’s #4 was impressive. He is going to be a problem for their opponents the rest of the season. WVU’s center is worthy of his All American accolades. Their QB, on his runs reminded me of McSorley.
6. Offensive line was missing the blitzing linebackers, especially in the first 1st half. Luckily, Allar was more nimble than I think they expected and he was able to run away from the blitz a few times. But, the O-line should have done a better job.
7. Not so sure I like KLS posturing after the TDs - I know things are different now relative to “the old days”, but there is only so much that the refs will allow. I think an unsportsmanlike was called against a WR who postured after a TD in one of the earlier televised games.
8. A little surprised we did not get more of a steady diet of Allen and Singleton. I expected more running.
9. Also a little surprised that the TEs were not more part of the passing game. Warren had one catch and Johnson did not have any.
10. Glad to see Pribula get into the game. He needs some PT. Not sure PSU really needed to get that last TD, but……I think some of that has to do with the perception that comes with the prevalence of gambling and the point spread. Wins against the spread are almost as important as wins against the opponent.
11. What happened with Cephas? One catch? But, McClain was more active and made a nice move to get the TD.
12. Maria Taylor. Hey girl……..
13. The Beav looked great on TV with the blue stripe.
14. Kicking game….ugh. Expect Felkin to be the kicker next week. Also, why is Saunders calling for a FC with this feat on the 5 yard line? Gotta clean up this stuff.
15. Next week - “more palatable Michigan“
OK, back to the pool and the hot moms…….
