Apparently Miranda Lambert stopped A performance to call out a pack of show talkers. And now the backlash is “ she ( Miranda ) is acting entitled as opposed to the paying customers who feel it is their right to talk at shows as they bought the ticket.

I applaud when an artist does this as it is annoying to all the other fans. I have had to ask folks numerous times over the years to give their discussion a rest. I have also been guilty in a super buzzed moment of being that person.

Experiences? Thoughts?

Are people entitled to talk all show just because they bought the ticket? Tgar says no. Is the artist entitled to ask them to stop, Tgar says yes. And it’s happening more and more.

Had the unfortunate experience of this at a Donald Fagen show at the Tower. Three jagoffs just blabbing about vacations, getting wasted, etc almost the entire show. They finally stopped when I indicated bodily harm was coming next if they didn’t shut up. To add: the jagoffs holding up their phones to take videos and photos the entire friggin show. Saw Primus recently and Les Claypool admonished some audience members and told them they were missing out on the experience. The only other quirk is when a 6’7” dude sits right in front of you! They need to allow a special seating section for tall people!

@GregPickel would you please move this to the TM board. That is where I meant to place it.
Thanks and my apologies.

I don't mind when people make slight comments...calling a song after the first note or what is coming. I hate the loud drunk conversations with people yelling over each other....that does get to me.

Yeah, that is what I am referring to. At the Sphere this weekend, by and large, everyone was pretty respectful.

I'm kind of shocked performers are paying that much attention to a crowd - assume these are folks in the front row? I believe buying a ticket to a concert is not a free pass to be disrespectful to a performer - this is a two way agreement; you are buying access to their performance and time and they perform for you. Absolutely within an artist's rights to ask someone to be quiet and/or leave.

It was marvelous. Everything it was advertised to be and more. The sound was unquestionably the best I have ever heard save for a few experiences with classical music which rivals the Sphere in much smaller settings. ( for instance, we saw a classical Norwegian trumpet player and pianist at St Martin in the Field during Christmas week for a Friday noon time recital once, insanely good and sonic )

We went two nights in a row and the video accompanying each of the songs was sensational. The leaving earth moment was indescribable.

We stayed at the Bellagio so it was a bit of a walk winding our way through Bellagio, Caesar’s and The Venetian but fun.

We may go to one of the just announced Eagles extended tour dates in 2025. Cheap airfare on a direct to Vegas on Southwest, grab an adequate room, dine, go to the show, crash, head home.

I see they announced an EDM “ artist” for New Years Eve. I can see the venue being used for classical, Opera, Adele, etc in edition to the few great bands that can fill it night after night.

It really is an amazing venue.

To me this is like the other post about people leaving their car at the pump when going inside or going in the wrong door. Some people have an idea of how things should work, but that doesn't really mean that's how it works. People bought a ticket to an event, nowhere does it say that you can't talk during the show. You don't want people to do it and it could be annoying or rude, but they have the right to talk.

People have the right to be rude, but nobody has to agree with it.

The show talkers (sounds creepy, btw), don't have any more rights than anyone else. They paid their money, but so did all the other people who want to go and enjoy the performance.

What's you're stance on the crowd singing along loudly with every song? My 2 college age girls do it at every concert along with the entire crowd and I think it's annoying AF. I paid to hear the effing artists!

Or put up with it. Your rights end when they start to interfere with someone else's- in this case their right to enjoy the concert. People seem to forget this in the age of entitlement.

A few years ago in the Student Section at a football game, we had the women's gymnastics recruits sitting (or, as we know, more accurately standing) in the row behind the Men's Basketball recruits...that didn't work very well.

Ironically they are entitled to forget.

Have you thought about trading in your daughters for a pair that were reared with better parents? 🤷🏼‍♂️🙄

Yeah I'm going to tell them to STFU while 80,000 other people are singing along in Beaver Stadium. That would make me a great parent.

I wasn't there for Taylor Swift and Zach Bryan to shove a sock in their mouths. Maybe I'll hide in the trunk to do that for Olivia Rodrigo on Friday. 😏

Miranda Lambert can do whatever she wants. She gets a pass based on this performance alone...

Unless it was a Dead show with Walton in front of you. Nobody ever complained about the Big Redhead.
