the key next year is to have the FR mostly produce now. This is not CFB where you need 3-4 year to make an OL player. If you have elite FR they play and impact now.
At the same time, people get carried away with the impact that they expect out of a freshman, as there is this myth that it's completely common for freshman to come in and make an immediate impact. Look around the conference, and you see very few true freshman making a serious impact this year. Look at a team like Memphis with multiple McD's AAs, and they are hanging on the bubble.
Our top recruit in the 247 Composite is Njie at 98th.
Last season's 98th ranked guy was Nnanna Njoku, who has suited up 7 times for Villanova this season and scored 6 total points.
The 98th ranked guy two years ago was Joe Bamisile (Virginia Tech), who scored 45 points all season as his playing time dwindled to the point of not seeing the floor in their NCAA game and transferring to George Washington.
3 years ago, it was Isaiah Ihnen at Minnesota, who averaged 3 point/game his freshman year.
We've signed a nice class, but it's not like we've got Chet Holmgren on the way...
