Regardless of how you personally feel about Tiger, if his Saturday round doesn't convince you that he is far and away the best player on the Earth...then you can't be convinced.

Un-freaking-real.

but how long will he continue to ham up his knee surgery/injury? I mean, after every bad shot he grimaces and grabs at his knee as if he could be Superman again if it weren't for his knee.

Tomorrow could be a first with him finally losing a lead in a major and not finishing the deal. I will be rooting for anyone but him. Ok, maybe not Camilo Villegas: homo.

It is just unfair. He hits a few terrible drives but he ends up in an opening or behind a temporary obstruction so he gets a free drop. He hits a chip that hits a foot up the stick and falls straight down into the hole. Other guys would ricochet off the green.

Obviously he is great, but his luck is actually spooky.

I have found that the old saying about the harder one works, the luckier one gets - is actually true.

You would say both those long difficult putts could be called "lucky" because you sure can't make them regularly. But he reads them right and hits an unbelievable putt.

I am talking about things that are truly bad shots where it bounces the right way instead of the way it normally should. He seems to never get a bad bounce and almost always gets the best possible outcome when he hits a horrible shot. Even he said that chip on 17 had no business of going in.

He's grimacing after damn near every shot...good or bad. His second into 18 was perfect, yet he didn't watch it because he was dealing with the pain in his knee. If you've ever had any type of knee operation, you know how much of a ***** it is to get over.

I agree Bruce, it appears he gets more breaks than most....but I doubt there really is much difference. Don't forget, we see every shot Tiger hits...we see only a fraction of the other players. When the others are catching a break, there's usually no tv coverage. Even if he is luckier than the rest of the field, he damn sure knows how to take advantage of a good break...the others usually piss it away.

Several years ago I had shoulder surgery. The physical therapists told me that it was one of the tougher surgeries to rehab (it really didn't seem all that bad to me though). But when I saw the guys rehabbing after knee surgery all I could think was, "Holy ****! I'm glad I didn't have knee surgery."

What a dumbass comment. Yeah he only grabs his knee after bad shots. He looks pefectly healthy on the good shots. He is just faking it and looking for some sympathy

Even before his knee surgury he had a habit of making faces and jestures to make sure everyone knew his displeasure. Today, I found it interesting he wasn't grimacing or cussing or throwing clubs when he took the lead. Then on 17 he starts back pitching a fit and throwing clubs. Then he sinks a putt to tie and he is out there cutting a rug. His reactions are similar to that of the 10 year olds down at the park.

On several of his great shots today, he did the little club twirl and was able to bend down and pick up his tee quickly, or proceed, without a hint of injury or pain. He has a history of this. Just watch him hit out of heavy rough sometime and watch his reaction to one or both of his wrists. And the media is right there with him, hamming it up.

If you have a man-crush on Tiger, it's OK, just say so.

Some of the shots where he grimaced were the same ones that just a couple of holes were fine and good shots and no showing of pain. I'm not saying by any means that he is faking it but it just seemed odd.

he says he took something for the pain while he was on the course today but there were a few good drives where you could tell he was in obvious pain after the shot. I just dont see him playing it up like that

i can see the argument but there were a lot of good shots too that he winced in pain too. the 270 3-wood on 13 on saturday for instance. great shot. bent over in pain.

hell he could just be feeling good on some shots (i.e. cut, draw, high fade, etc.) and not on others. **** his knee got scoped 2 months ago and he is going to a playoff in a major. i don't care if he grabbed the damn thing after every bad swing and runs to the ball after good swings...it is still nuts after being scoped and being back in his first tournament.

Things work better or work with less pain when you are feeling good about it or are excited. Once he got going adrenaline really started kicking in.

i'm sick of all the announcers talking about how bad tiger's surgery is, blah blah blah. we're not talking about willis mcgahee here.

he had a minor procedure - arthroscopic surgery - on his left knee. guys are back playing football in 4-6 weeks. tiger has been out 8 weeks because they cut out a little cartilage. come on. sure, you put a lot of torque on that front knee, especially with a swing like tiger, but it's not like he's having to run and cut on it. oh, it's his third surgery? well, one of them was to remove a cyst and drain fluid. hardly a major reconstructive surgery.

if tiger's knee is really bothering him as much as he lets it appear, then (1) his doctor didn't do his job, or (2) his physical therapists didn't do their job. i'll give tiger credit for coming back from 8 weeks off and a knee surgery and playing well. especially on the biggest stage. but this is not a willis reed performance, and definitely not a jack youngblood performance.

i can't wait for the first person to say "you've obviously never had knee surgery before."...
