are the only SEC schools with more wins against ranked opponents than State since 2020 (three seasons).

Also of note: Ole Miss only has four wins against ranked opponents since 2018 (five seasons). Only Missouri and Vanderbilt have fewer.

We do typically play a tougher schedule than Ole Miss. They got Vandy. KY has been ranked the past several times we played them. This year might bite them in the ***.

Ole Miss has played Vanderbilt every year since 1970. Compare that to Arkansas, who since the most recent SEC expansion (11 seasons) has only played Vanderbilt once.

State has a better SEC record than Ole Miss since 2004, despite playing Vanderbilt 13 fewer times.

Ole Miss's streak of playing Vanderbilt every year will finally end in 2024.

Isn’t there some stat about Kiffin and his teams still haven’t beaten a team that finished the season ranked? Or something to that effect?

I’m not sure. That was the knock on Mullen until 2014, that the only team he beat that finished ranked was his first Egg Bowl.

I take those kinds of things with a grain of salt though… like… in some ways, it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy because those teams might have ended up ranked if they hadn’t lost their game against State.
