Well, I think there was doubt until we obliterated Notre Dame in the first 10 minutes of the seasonDon't think any doubt ever existed.
Anything less than a Final Four is disappointing. I can't be more than temporarily let down if the team doesn't make the championship game or win it.That WBB team has put themselves in the enviable and unenviable position that anything less than a national title is disappointing.

We were lucky to escape Baton Rouge with a win. But win by 1 or win by 50, a win is a win.Your response is reasonable and rationale. I don't follow them all that closely, but looking at ESPN, they've gone 100-3 over the last 3 seasons. They have found themselves in that rarified air that a handful teams in sports have found themselves, that it's title or bust. When you breeze through an undefeated regular season, mostly uncontested from what I gather, and are clearly the best team in the sport (from what I gather) anything short of a title has to be a bit of a disappointment.
I would guess that less than 1% of the population are even aware of what women's basketball team is ranked #1.
Women's basketball seems to be a sport that one team absolutely dominates for a while and then another team dominates for a while. It really sort of makes for a dull overall sport.Probably true. There are 3 teams I could tell you about. Lady Vols b/c I lived in Tennessee at the time they were dominating the sport. UConn b/c they won like 800 games in a row. And now us b/c I'm a USC fan and we get talked about on Gamecock forums.
That’s for the Naysayers who help dish out some of the SEC awards!!!!Don't think any doubt ever existed.

I'm sure the fact women's sports are largely ignored by the public and college fan bases contributes to that. No AD is feeling any pressure to make any women's teams better so when a program gets good they can stay good because no one else is going to put resources into a team to try and overtake them.I posted to ask about this a while back but got no responses. You don't see this in men's basketball. In the 90s, Tennessee was absolutely dominant and nearly unbeatable for a prolonged period. That overlapped with UConn being absolutely dominant and actually unbeatable for considerable stretches and then that segued into us being absolutely dominant and nearly unbeatable.

How you're playing matters now. It will matter even more next week. Were getting past the point of comfort. We were lucky to escape Baton Rouge with a win. But win by 1 or win by 50, a win is a win.
I'll bet fewer in the country know who won the Stanley Cup last year; and the NHL is a pretty healthy sport.I would guess that less than 1% of the population are even aware of what women's basketball team is ranked #1.
That was supposed to say “around a dozen” very good women’s teams now! (This old guy still has difficulty with keyboarding when using my phone. I don’t know how young folks can do it so quickly!)I understand what is being said here but I will add that there are around very good women’s teams right now. And although it’s still the exception, some of the TV ratings for a few of the games have been better than for NBA games.
Lucky? It’s called being good.We were lucky to escape Baton Rouge with a win. But win by 1 or win by 50, a win is a win.
The UCLA men's team had quite a run when I was growing up.You don't see this in men's basketball.

I'll take that bet for any amount you want to wager. Hockey is HUGE among yankees. Outside of the South and some Midwest states, college sports are very much an afterthought for the public in general.I'll bet fewer in the country know who won the Stanley Cup last year; and the NHL is a pretty healthy sport.
