Forgive me if posted already, I didn't see it. And I saw this posted on an unmentionable site.

The lawsuit argues that the school should be controlling the NIL distribution.

I would think k the obvious legal issue would dismiss this, but when politics enters the courtroom, logic is abandoned.

It was inevitable that this would come. Surprised it took this long.

I’m really surprised this hasn’t been brought up before. Outside of a couple of WBB teams, I can’t imagine the inequity.

The most profitable women's team is dwarfed by the least profitable P5 football program.

Well, the obvious part for me is that the schools are forbidden from controlling the NIL, so how can they be held accountable?

Then you get into the whole thing of: why should a girl playing in front of 10 people get paid the same as a guy playing in front of 100,000?

I was asking recently, and dint find.

But does our wbb program break even or operate in the red?

I thought we had discussed on here before, but I couldn't find it.

There is no such thing as a profitable women's team. Ours does not make money. The only sports that make money are football and men's basketball.

Title IX exists, in part, because women's sports are not profitable.
It's not just women's sports. No collegiate sports are profitable except the Football team and the Men's Basketball Team. They, especially the football program, pay for everything. Men's Baseball, Track. They all lose money. Now, WBB could eventually start to earn money as more eyeballs are on all these TV games that they have. At some point, programs need to get a better deal for that programming. Heck, our WBB team got the 7:00 ESPN slot on a Thursday night. Heck, there are a lot of MBB programs that would love to have that spot. Athletic programs need to hit some of these networks up for more money there when negotiating time comes around.

Well, yeah, I was just responding in context to women's sports.

I can't see women's basketball ever being profitable. If ESPN saw a way to make it profitable, they would do it.

Good. Dropped college sports. Problem solved
