It is incredible that the 45 men who have served as President were all born on this same day. Ok. Grade school joke.

As you may know, this Federal Holiday is officially known as "Washington's Birthday", as it should be, and it should always be celebrated on February 22nd, the actual day of Washington's birth. Screw the 90th Congress, who passed "The Uniform Monday Holiday Act" which took effect in 1971, and moved this Holiday to the third Monday in February.
I will be back on February 22nd to celebrate the actual birthday of George Washington. In the meantime...which one of Washington's Officers had the best sense of humor?
Laughayette!

I am buying a new mattress today. I thought that was the importance of the day.

I disagree completely...I'd even prefer to move the 4th of July to the Monday/Friday nearest to it and call it Independence Day. Holidays around long weekends are so much better (to me) than ones that might fall on a stand-along Tuesday-Thursday.

And I'm sure that everyone will be happy about President's Day in 2027 when we finally get it to fall the day after the Super Bowl...though the younger guys (or their Girlfriends/Wives) might get a shock as the Super Bowl falls on Valentine's Day.

As a retired 6th grade teacher let me share this question I often asked - name the former US presidents NOT buried in the United States.

The 4th of July is the 4th of July. If all it means is beer and BBQ, then we really are lost.
