seems as though we are losing some key players obviously in Parks, Vickerson, and Shepard just wondering how you think the lineup shapes up for next year. Lastly, what about pitching depth and power hitters for next years team, two things that we desperately need.

To me, that hurt us more than anything today. There are going to be some battles for pretty much every position next year.

Starting pitcher candidates- Routt has a slot locked up, and then Stratton, Daryl Norris, Pollorena, Evan Mitchell, Graveman, Busby, Fitts, and hopefully Lindgren will compete for the other spots. The once who don't get spots in the rotation go to the bullpen.

The bullpen- We return Reed and I think we will move Pollorena back to the bullpen where he is more comfortable. We are also going to get Ben Bracewell back- it sure would have been nice to have him today. Those three alone should make us pretty stout. And then hopefully Brandon Woodruff, Taylor Stark will be back, Hunter Renfroe, CT Bradford, Jonathan Holder, Girodo, Statz, hopefully CC Watson will be healthy and maybe Will Cox plus whoever doesn't make the rotation from above. I'm not forgetting Victor Diaz- I'm just not sold on him. So, we return practically everyone on our pitching staff, plus a couple of new arms and also add a year of experience. Wes Rea could also help us out in the bullpen if he is healthy as well.

Catcher- I think it will be Hunter Renfroe splitting with Nic Amaritti, a JUCO transfer, and maybe Mitch Slauter. I think Renfroe will DH or play the outfield, and possibly even third base when he is not catching.

1B- Wes Rea- we really missed him this year. I hope he gets healthy. If not, there's Norris and Holder.
2B- Adam Frazier, maybe Demarcus Henderson some, and Frost as a late inning defensive replacement/pinch runner.
3B- Daryl Norris if Rea or Holder take over at first. If not, we could see Brayden Jones, Renfroe, or a freshman named Philip Casey who is a really hard nosed player.
SS- Demarcus Henderson, maybe Frazier, Matthew Britton is also a possibility, and the coaches are looking for a JUCO middle infielder- but we'll see if that happens.
RF- Brandon Woodruff if he comes to school, Stark, maybe Brownlee some, Renfroe when he is not catching, Cody Abraham will be coming off of the bench.
CF- Bradford has this locked down, Tyler Fullerton may play some when CT is pitching, and Brownlee will see some action here as well.
LF- Brent Brownlee, along with everyone else menitoned with the RFers.
DH- Whoever is hot/Taylor Stark/Renfroe when he is not catching.

to win now! Also, just the experience of playing in a Regional and getting down to the last few innings of a Super Regional will be a big plus.

I think we need to go get a Juco SS who can field, not sold on the unknown Henderson and I believe Frazier is taylor made for second base. I can see Norris playing one of the corners, I believe he will hit .300 next year.

We should be solid in the outfield with Brownlee who really came on at the end of the year, and Bradford is a star in CF.

I think we may have a weakness at catcher unless we find a Juco and like I said SS could be a problem.

Hopefully a few of the redshirts or freshmen will have one or two players as good as Bradford.

will not be back next year. All SR infield played the entire post-season along with 2 SR catchers and RF. I guess its still good that we had younger players be on the team for this but other than CT and Brownlee nobody on this team from a batting and defensive perspective really had the pressure on them in the NCAAs. In pitching we definitely got some experience. It will be a bit of starting over with the offense though next year.

Signees? Where were they on the All STate team. Can Woodruff play the field? Cox, Lindgren? I don't know anything about the JUCO guys, but judging by the ones that just graduated, we can begin seeing them contribute around May of 2013.

the guys who came through in the clutch down the stretch and got us here, had never done that sort of thing before. All they'd done is lose. They had no postseason experience to speak of. ****, most people wanted Cohen to bench all the seniors and just get the freshmen some experience. This was during the Alabama series!!!! Bottom line, pitching improved, and so did our team this year. I expect our pitching to be dominant next year, with some real talent in the field. Scrappy AND talented, but young.

This is an overrated asset, in my opinion.

It did not help your Rebels out at all in the three at home choke jobs in super regional play.

and what you say is true but Ogden hit .260, Freeman hit .279, Thigpen hit .234, Parks hit .365, Collins hit .260, Sheppard hit .284 and Vickerson will be the biggest loss hitting .320, led the team in SB's and Hr's. I believe we will get better hitters on the field as a whole expect 3rd and 2nd.

Sometimes players need to watch and learn, this can be as valuable as playing everyday, the seniors as a whole did better than I expected mainly Vickerson and Parks but we can do better in the future.

A self-effacing comment is met with smack. Hard to imagine, but Ronny is now one of the more rational posters here (!!!!).

GowiththesmackflowIguess.

Also, my son's Tball team is the Rebears, and they have beaten the Bulldogs 3 times this year.

anything SPS has learned over the years, it's to completely disregard and nafoomer's posts and opinions on upcoming seasons' results.

Woodruff would be a dual position guy in college for sure if he comes to school. Lindgren and Cox are going to be pitchers in college- I would be very surprised if we use them as dual position guys.

And not to be a smartass, but who cares where they were on the All-State team? Woodruff was drafted in the fifth round and didn't make it despite having a higher batting average than anyone else on the team. Lindgren made the team, though.

As far as the JUCO guys- I don't think there is any doubt that it usually takes most guys a year to adjust from JUCO ball to the SEC. At the same time, we're just asking Amiratti to play good defense and again, we'll see if we do indeed sign a JUCO SS.

Hunter Renfroe did a great job in the SEC Tournament behind the plate and Amiratti was actually drafted by the Marlins out of high school and he played a year at Seton Hall.

Now, I can understand the concerns about SS and Henderson, though. I've seen Henderson play before in high school- He is a pretty good defensive player and I wouldn't be surprised at all if he ends up being an upgrade over Ogden considering Ogden's 20 errors this year. Now, at the plate- we'll see about that.

thanks for the info. Something must be up if Woodruff is that good and didn't make the All State team. That's kinda what I was getting at. <div>
</div><div>Where are Fullerton and the other two guys from?</div>

Amiratti is the JUCO catcher that we signed this spring. In the fall, we signed Mitch Slauter.

unless it's someone that plays for Madison Central, Nortwest Rankin, Clinton, Sumrall, Prep or JA. Or unless you happen to be Anthony Alford.

Heck, they left off Lindgren from the Dandy Dozen- and he was drafted higher than any other pitcher only player on the list. I think him making All-State was a make up call. And to be fair- they also left of Gabe Gray off of both lists. The man only hit over .700 as a junior at Hazlehurst and he was drafted this year and he couldn't make their cut. So, I don't think it was any anti-MSU bias. I think they simply don't know what they're talking about. Alvin Franklin should have made All-State as well, and he didn't. And having Ryan Ellis over Jonathan Holder? Please. To me, it looked like they let Corky Palmer or Hill Denson pick it.

Cohen and Lane or Butch- I think the Tupelo area is Butch's territory, but I might be wrong- will also continue to follow up and re-recruit him for us as well. They won't let him or Lindgren go without a fight.

probably Rick Cleveland.

I hate to say it, but Gene could put together a better All-State team than Rod.
