no thank you

5. Keep the three Daves: I feel badly for my friends at Raycom, who are really the only losers in this deal. Raycom, which carries the 12:30 p.m. game, got squeezed out when ESPN decided it wanted to own all of the television rights not belonging to CBS. Raycom will still do the early SEC games this season, which is the last in the current deal. Next season ESPN Regional Television (ERT) will handle the syndicated package of games.

This is just one man's opinion, but if ESPN is smart, they'll keep the same broadcast team of Dave Neal, Dave Archer, and Dave Baker to do the early SEC games. In fact, the SEC should insist on it. Continuity is important, especially in the over the air package of games, which has played an important role in the growth of the conference on TV. It's just something to think about.

i'm pretty sure he stands alone on this matter.

Those guys would be getting the lower tier SEC games. I'd be willing to bet that they are no worse than the D team at ESPN.

I don't get the hate for the JP/Raycom/Abe guys. I appreciated the knowledge and insight they brought to the broadcast. Besides, Dave Neal and Baker are not that bad. Rowe said some stupid stuff but he sounded no different than alot of other ex-player color commentators. Hell, they would be a step up in talent in what ESPN usually has on the Duece, the U, and so on.

part, I don't care who the announcers are. Every now and again, there is somebody who is so damn horrible that they make having the sound on truly unbearable. Dennis Miller, for instance. But, I don't see the Dave's as being so horrible that the sound of their voice grates on my nerves.

The problem with the Daves was really just one Dave, that being Dave Rowe. Since he's gone I don't mind them at all. They're certainly more knowledgeable about the SEC than an ESPN fourth string would be. And I'll be damned if we have to sit through a broadcast with that chick that ESPN is using in the booth now. She is horrible.

The Daves are like a drunken Waffle House meal.

Unacceptable at any other time, but perfect given the circumstance.

Now that "Big man on big man!" has been removed from the lexicon of JP Broadcasts, I actually enjoy their broadcasts.

Dave Neal is the most annoying play by play in the business not named Kellum. Period. I'd rather listen to Pam Ward. Unlike Dave Neal, she at least sounds like a man.

The waffle house analogy is perfect - describes exactly what my feelings are for the broadcast.

I guess I have a love/hate relationship with the 3 daves. No way in hell ESPN reproduces that magic.

I already miss the zyrtec purple pill first down line. Obviously, I don't miss the horrendous sight of the out of focus, two yards short of actual first down, graphic monstrosity that was the purple pill first down marker - but I do miss getting the chance at getting fired up and pissed off when Dave mentions it. It's like I NEED the routine LF +$*@-up or idiotic comment by Dave to make my fall Saturday morning complete.
