Im thinking he will have to pick a side. Champ Bailey played both sides at Georgia and he’s in the HOF and he said you just can’t do it in the NFL. Will be interesting to see what happens.

I would have voted for Jeanty but this was a great year for two truly deserving players. Crazy that the top two Heisman contenders signed with JSU and BSU out of high school. NIL is not the only determining factor for recruits.

Go check out Hunter’s stats vs. Charles Woodson back in 1997….

Hunter had 4 picks and led team (maybe Big 12) with 11 passes defended. Then he had 90 catches for 1152 yards and 14 TD’s.

Woodson did have 7 interceptions, but then just 11 catches for 231 yards and 2 TD’s.

Still hard to believe he got the Heisman over Peyton.

I find it refreshing we didn’t just hand the Heisman to the QB on one of the top 5 teams.
Agree. It was nice that the top two finishers were not from traditional college football powers. (Yes, I know Colorado has a natty from 35 years ago, bit they’ve been dog schitt for 20 years). Any other year Jeanty would’ve won it, but Hunter had a unicorn season that won’t be replicated for a long time, if ever.

Moss’s numbers were absolutely Playstation-level that year. I think he got somewhat penalized by getting to play with an NFL QB in the MAC. Only thing I can think of.

Jeanty played up until his last couple of years of high school in Italy. His dad was stationed there. He then moved to Frisco tx for a couple years, but COVID year was one. He slipped through the cracks. Only p5 offers were from Kansas and California.

It's amazing how many of those slipped through the cracks dudes end up in Boise State over the years. Ironically I was a Navy brat like Jeanty, lived in Frisco Tx, and when I had the chance I chose Boise too. I mean who wouldn't prefer this over some salty, sandy, hurricane magnet?

It's a popularity public campaign, and while Hunter clearly was deserving, he had football's #1 hype man as his coach.

Yup. The Heisman is going to go to 3 people, normally it’s always the best high profile player on the best team or an exceptional player who carries his team on one of the best teams. The 3rd option is a complete freak with absolutely freakish numbers whose team would not be the same without. Moss was the third option. What’s funny is Jeanty is #2 and #3.
