if signing day were tommorow, it looks like we'd have possibly the best signing class on paper, and risk to lose them with firing croom....but, we also risk to lose them with games like we saw last night and a bad year......with all that said, i'm all for firing him and letting our new AD go get his man like he did with cohen for baseball.

after this cluster<17> of a season...

Crooms will be here thru the end of next season. Then after 5 losing seasons in 6 years, our AD will do the right thing

Honestly, I don't think that we're going to lose a lot of recruits, no matter what happens. I think we're going to lose the guy from Little Rock when Arkansas offers him, but I think that will probably be about it.

the 3 int and 2 fumbles were not his fault. and it was hard for me to say that.

Talent wasn`t the problem last night nor has it been in any of his signature embarrassing loses. We can`t fire him right now but if he offers us a way to get rid of his bogus *** I hope Byrne will take him up on it and not try to talk him out of it.

It's Croom's responsibility to coach players to not make stupid plays. And 2 of the interceptions and 1 of the fumbles were monumentally stupid plays. I don't fault him or the players for the first interception or the fumbled kickoff. Carroll was hit when he threw the first pick and the kickoff returner was actually carrying the ball properly. But the last two picks and the fumbled punt return were plays that well-coached players don't make.

I think we lose many more unless we pull a miracle and win 6-7 games. Croom may be a "father figure" to some of them but that isn't going to hold up with a losing season.

a WAC team that finished 90-something in defense last year, you shouldnt be making those mistakes. We beat Auburn last year, and Auburn took care of business against their nobody La school. Tech should not have even been in the game...Players mistakes are the reason coaches get fired every year....

if we dont win more than 4 this year i honestly see byrne finding a way to get rid of him at the end of the season. The bottom line is that even if by a miracle we win 6 games and go to a bowl we still will never ever have the coaching caliber to compete for the SEC west.

P.S. hypothetically say we lost to sela, does anyone think croom would be fired the next day?

If he has a losing season this year (which seems almost certain based on last night), he'll need to post a winning season in 2009 to keep his job.

Only because we had a winning season last year. Unfortunately, we need one more year to definatively prove that last year was a fluke before we fire him. We won't fire Croom for losing to SELU either. I DO think that what will happen is Byrne will force him to make some coaching changes- likely offense and ST- and then give him one more year with the new assistants. What could happen is Croom might refuse to fire Woody and then resign- similar to Cutliffe in 04.

IF that does happen, I sincerely hope Byrne hits another home run with his coaching search.

So, Coach is right. Croom has 23 games and I'm saying everyone on the offensive side of the ball has 11.

No way he gets fired this season. Woody, and or others yes, ... now if Croom ties himself to the assistants, then yes he's gone also.
That is, if we don't see strong improvement immediately.

honestly though think about it, starkville would go up in flames from rioting if we lost to sela. In that scenario I'd be ok with sucking the rest of the year as long as I knew Byrne was looking for new coach.

After Snead throws for 5 TD's he'll prolly just volunteer to quit. He can't coach good recruits, he'd 17 up Tom Brady, LaDanian and Strahan.

Face it ladies and gents: Croom Can't Coach, he doesn't make good hires, and his preseason program is abominable
