Well, Illinois presents all sorts of matchup problems for Iowa but I guess Ben can worry about that bridge if it ever happens. They have to beat Nebraska first! That's the crazy thing about beating a #1 to get to the Sweet 16.....there's literally not another game until potentially AZ in a championship game scenario that will be tougher than the game we just won. We've got a tremendous shot to continue to make some noise.
Advantage Nebraska?
Nebraska is a huge challenge. One game at a time. Go Hawks!Well, Illinois presents all sorts of matchup problems for Iowa but I guess Ben can worry about that bridge if it ever happens. They have to beat Nebraska first!
I never said any of the remaining games would be easy or wouldn't pose problems for us......I simply said that the nice thing about upsetting a #1 seed in the 2nd round is that there's really not a game that would be left that would be MORE difficult. And there won't be. Doesn't mean we won't lose and doesn't mean we'll play as good as we did against FL. But there's no team, save Arizona, that would be a harder team for us to face....especially given all the things we had to overcome with Florida (home crowd, 27 years of futility, etc).Well, Illinois presents all sorts of matchup problems for Iowa but I guess Ben can worry about that bridge if it ever happens. Hopefully Nebby is looking forward to a fun game and Iowa is looking forward to a war.
That's great. It's more fun as the underdog, and I've heard that Florida was a pretty popular choice to take down the Hawkeyes in a virtual home game. How did that work out? After watching a few podcasts and shows, it seems like little red is the media darling that most outlets are rooting for. This is due mainly to their run being considered "a miracle" because they've never done this before.
Limit turnovers and defend the three, Little red lives and dies by it. We will need to absolutely lock down Pryce. We'll also need another tremendous rebounding performance like we did with Florida.
Or Illinois. But who cares? Iowa already beat the #1 seed. There's nothing to fear--nothing and nobody. Just win and advance. If we win, we'll most likely play Houston in Houston........
Or twice on Thursdays. He won 2 games against a #13 seed and a #5 seed vs Ben who has an over 80% winning % in ncaa tourney games over a nearly 50 game sample size. I'll take Ben every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
Staying out of foul trouble, sadly, is more up to the refs than it is Banks. So let's hope and pray and hope some more that Iowa gets a fair shake from the refs so the team that plays better wins. That's all I ever ask, but it so rarely happens. Maybe tomorrow will be one of those rare exceptions.Tavion needs to stay out of foul trouble and be able to give us a good 28-30 minutes. He was great in the Florida game and is by far our best and most versatile defender. I’m also not sure why Stirtz is settling for so many contested 3’s. We’ve won because the rest of our guys are stepping up but Is like to see Stirtz try to get in the paint a bit more and try to draw fouls.
Iowa played Illinois extremely well, losing 75-69 over two months ago. Let's beat Nebraska and then take our chances--Houston or Illinois--it matters not to me.Well, Illinois presents all sorts of matchup problems for Iowa but I guess Ben can worry about that bridge if it ever happens. A huge challenge? Iowa beat them once and took them to OT the second time in Lincoln. Every game's a challenge. If it were easy, anybody could do it. These games are what Ben lives for.Nebraska is a huge challenge. One game at a time. Go Hawks!
You're a broken record about Iowa and the refs. It's just not a conspiracy against Iowa my man, it just isn't. Dr Tom teams always made more free throws than the other team even shot. As another poster said earlier, our offense has been pretty perimeter oriented, which leads to fewer free throws. We attacked the paint way more in the Florida game than any game in awhile and guess what, we got to the line more than usual. Settling for long 3's late in the shot clock doesn't get you to the line much. Now I'm sure Ben will hopefully throw in a few new wrinkles for this game ( 100% sure) but Nebraska is not strong defensively on the inside. I think again if Banks stays out of foul trouble and we can get him in 1 v 1 matchups down low or the screen and roll with Alvaro we can certainly take it to them. Would like to see Stirtz stay aggressive, not settling.Staying out of foul trouble, sadly, is more up to the refs than it is Banks. Huh? Iowa arrived in Houston yesterday as well.Nebraska arrived in Houston yesterday, got a one day jump on the Hawks.
Thanks for the lecture, pal, but no thanks. I didn't say anything about a conspiracy. I said most basketball games are poorly officiated, and often biased. The evidence is there. Check it out. Hell, Florida committed at least three flagrant 1 or 2 fouls against Iowa, not one of which was called. It's right there in the video. Look at it.You're a broken record about Iowa and the refs.
