I got on last year since a lot of recruiting news comes through on there. Started following some Gamecock sites. Had no intentions of ever posting.

Today I am engaged in a battle royale with someone else who is arguing that the UT and and Clemson games were fairly representative of our offense last season. Blasted me for saying they were anomalies.

Twitter is a cesspool now. Still a great place to get up-to-the-second news (actual reported news of something happening in real time - not the editorialized stuff), but anything beyond that is just seems like people just making stuff up to stir the pot. And then repeating the same stuff over and over to try and get it to stick.

It's where all the conspiracy theorist go to feed. Which is entertaining to read until you realize people actually believe some of this stuff.

I still avoid it. Any small crumbs of info you get a day early are not worth the sh!tshow, imho.

And I do believe you found Mrs. Satterfield on twitter.

That was my first though as well, haha.

I should probably drop off. It was pretty hot and heavy on there during the height of portal season, but it's otherwise not good for the brain. Hence why I am engaged in a throw down with a total stranger over whether our offensive explosion against UT was an anomaly or was representative of the rest of the season.

Yeah, I don't do social media other than this board for this reason.

I will say, I believe is representative of the potential the offense has. But it's certainly not representative of what we saw throughout the season. That's a crazy bad take.

You have to be selective of who you follow. That way you can avoid most of the nonsense/pissin contests.

I mostly use it as a news feed since there are some things that interest me (western fires/traffic/weather alerts/etc).

Hard to beat twitter for the latest local alerts & there are tons of videos/clips/pics that are legit.

This is from yesterday....DC-10 slurry bomber E of PHX.

lol, I mostly do. There's certainly no benefit to it. At the absolute best, I convince a total strange who I'll never meet that our offense was not overall as good as he thought it was last year.

You mean like conspiracy theorists about conspiracy theorists?

Funny how twitter was supposedly great less than a year ago when censorship was rampant

Oh, I'm very specific with who I follow - and when I stay in the "Following" feed all is well. I get the info.

However, sometimes it switches to the "For You" feed and it's like being thrown right into Alex Jones' head.

I don't even think most of the posters believe what they are tweeting, they just try and see what they can get other people to believe. Twitter is 90% lies or half-truths now.

I don't even know if it's representative of the potential...that would indicate, in my mind at least, that that performance could be replicated. 63 points against a top 5 opponent seems to be best case scenario, once in a lifetime type performance.

Clemson or Notre Dame would be more representative of the potential in my opinion.

Whoever OP was engaging with was a moron. Clearly it was an anomaly, not indicative of the season. That person must not have watched the games against Georgia State, Georgia, Texas A&M, Missouri, or Florida.

I used to be on Twitter to follow sports news but dropped it once my feed got overwhelmed with political crap and stuff I didn't want to follow. It was a cesspool. I got off all social media (other than Gamecock Central) and I've never regretted it.

It’s the same it’s pretty much always been with one big exception. They no longer censor conservative thoughts and opinions

Yea, seems the phone app version tries to default to the "for you" crap. I hate the conspiracy crap....I've hated it since JFK-11/22 & I was just a kid.

Obviously the precise result of the UT game was an anomaly. We'll probably never see anything like that again. I'm saying generally the offense over the last 3 games was indicative that the potential for this team is greater than what was shown earlier in the year.

I got on Twitter the day we beat Bama. I was waiting for my daughter to finish her makeover at the Bippety Boppety Boutique in Disney and joined to get the recruiting scoop. No matter how hard I tried I always ended up being told by someone that I should go kill myself, etc. over some political nonsense. I deleted my account about 6 months ago and it has been great from my mental health. Same as when I stopped watching ANY cable "news". As Dave Chappelle said "Twitter is not a real place."

Don't have twitter. My kids make fun of me because I have 5 twitter pages bookmarked in Safari for sports/news needs. :ROFLMAO:

Yes, I’m saying in total, only about 10% of the information on Twitter is accurate. The rest is just baseless opinion, propaganda, intentionally misleading or just outright lies.

Fortunately the sports stuff is pretty accurate. Though this morning I thought it was made up when I read that Ohtani threw 10 strikeouts and hit 2 HRs in the same game!

More than half the accounts at times are not real people. But the need for followers feeds narcissistic tendencies. You'll say something and someone with 100K followers will attack the fact that you don't care how many followers you have, as if having followers lends credibility.

Same for any media, including books & magazines....if you don't have a filter.

Unfortunately, we have a certain % of society that is missing their filters.
