Just got back from doing Thursday at the US Open at Pinehurst. Noticed that a ‘who’s who’ of world golf missed the cut.
You must: Hit it in the immaculate fairways, hit the ball to a small target on the green, putt conservatively, and endure the heat. The worst is the turtle back green. They are cruel to you. I saw some world class players putt it on, only to have it return to their feet. I had fun. Oh, yeah, those spiky fuzzy things in the ruff, are pure hell.

Looked like some of the on the... green play was like goofy golf, but that IS the US OPEN.

You must play the best golf in the world at that moment. I have not been disappointed with this course.

Watching the golf channel highlights this morning, it's comforting to see these guys chip across a green a couple times. I can relate.

However if I played this course in this condition..... I'd melt in Tin Cup fashion and quit the round. Hahaha.

Just a ridiculously tough course and conditions.

You just described several 9 hole courses in Mississippi **

EDT: well other than the immaculate fairways

I like seeing these pros struggle around greens. Normally they make it look too easy.

If DeChambeau can hold on and win, can he be Golf's next big superstar?

If he played the PGA, I would say yes. Regardless, if he gets this win, he will be a fan favorite.

That shot from the sand trap to put the ball within birdie range on the toughest green on the course was remarkable.
