Mark Mulder is back in the rotation. Will start in Philly on Wednesday to which MM must have said "Gee thanks". Boggs back to the minors.

Boggs isnt ready for the big boys but I dont think MM is either.

Why such a fascination with the Cardinals?

Boggs had one bad outing after he won his first three games. And in his one bad outing, LaRussa left him out there to save the bullpen.

I would think that you would at least give the guy another shot.

Are you a member of the message board police or are you just an everyday message board stalker? You seemed to be obsessed with why people post what they do here.

it's that it seems like he would rather play a veteran that is hurt, washed up, or not as talented than a guy that doesn't have experience.

Boggs had one bad outing out of four. That happens. Why not let him learn at the Big League level than AAA? Especially if he is doing well.

You also risk hurting Mulder if he's not ready. He's already had 17 set backs. And the team is playing well overall, why take the risk?

You got to keep in mind that the Cards are paying Mulder a huge amount of money. I'm sure that LaRussa played an important role in getting him there. So I'm guessing he feels a little pressure to get him back in the rotation.

all he's going to do is fall on his *** after a miserable start or two and then they're going to have a doctor look at him, determine that there's no new damage, but that he just needs to be rested because "he came back too fast", and then Boggs is going to be back up anyway.

They should just keep him in the bullpen all year and then by Sept. or Oct. he will hopefully have his arm strength and confidence built back up so that he can compete for a spot in the spring.

Good point. The Cardinals have a huge amount of money invested in some pretty shaky arms. I would be willing to guess management is wanting to get some kind of return - anything - on their investment. Boggs had not gone more than 6 innings in his 5 starts and he was killing the bullpen. Wellemeyer's become the same type pitcher. Mulder want be able to eat up too many innings but - as you mentioned - they have so much invested in him, they have to give it a shot. Boggs will be much better off in the minors where he can learn to become an innings eater. He's a typical rookie who got some outs early on, but when the scouts had a chance to figure him out, he was toast.

I guess not. But you did hijack this thread about the Cardinals by complaining about someone who you say hijacks threads about the Cardinals. WADF.
