It was a mistake to allow betting on college sports to go pretty much nationwide. There is probably more of this to come.

Betting on college sports is now legal so now there's a paper trail. It's been happening for a very long time but much harder to track.

It isn’t clear to me how bohanon’s involved. There must be more to the story.

“The alleged suspicious activity took place last Friday at the sportsbook at The Great American Ballpark, according to the Ohio Casino Control Commission (OCCC).

The OCCC's investigation is centered on two bets on the Tigers to win from the same unidentified customer, multiple industry sources told ESPN. Bohannon has not been connected to the bets.”

More of what to come? If there is "point shaving" or intentional losing going on in order to win a bet, that is really bad. However, this seems to be a case of insider information getting passed on in order to win a bet ON Bama. This hurts the sportsbooks, and does anyone really care that much if books take some extra losses? The sportsbooks are the biggest watch dogs for this kind of stuff because it affects their bottom line.

“Sportsbook surveillance video indicated that the person who placed the bets was communicating with Bohannon at the time, multiple sources with direct information about the investigation told ESPN.”

It seems they scratched their ace pitcher prior to the game and then suddenly a large sum was bet on LSU. My guess is a member of the staff alerted someone of this before the gambling sites knew and placed the wager.

Which begs the questions whether the ace was actually injured or was injured to the point that he couldn‘t pitch and whether bohanon replaced him with the best available option.
