Having countless designated threads for every topic under the sun has ruined this board for me. I have no desire to weed through dozens of pages on a topic, it's not worth my time especially when much of the content within these threads is nothing but embedded Twitter posts. If I wanted to read all those Twitter posts, I'd navigate to Twitter. I especially like reading about recruiting but now that news is buried in a 17 page thread that isn't even on the front page anymore. Conversation on this board has become as stale and uninteresting as I can remember in it's history. I'm sure this is in part due to the fracturing of the user base between the old and new boards but as someone that's been on the board since Plotit, I find myself spending the least amount of time here as I ever have. I've gone from reading multiple times a day, to maybe once a week. I don't know if this is just me but thought I'd share some unsolicited feedback, which I realize is worth nothing.

It's not worth your time to read because, since Plotit, you have grown up and matured. We, on the other hand, have not.

I agree, but my name isn’t on the sign out front. I'm not a fan of the huge multi page threads either.

For instance, I think the separate Oppenheimer thread is far better than having all that content buried in the movie thread.

I guess the rationale is that with new threads, stuff gets relegated to page 6 on the board...but I'm not sure what the difference is if that same post is relegated to page 6 of a big thread.

I agree and have considered making a post about it. I get the idea of keeping things clean, tidy and organized, I do, but a little chaos makes life interesting.

To me the problem is this, if someone makes a post about a topic, lets just say for instance, its something about a 2024 recruit, and that leads to a discussion about that specific topic, well, it doesn't really matter because it gets filed into the 2024 recruit thread and then it all just becomes either noise in that thread or the people who want to discuss it don't discuss it because they don't know where the thread went or it constantly gets interrupted with other posts and sort of become futile to try to have a conversation about it. (Does that make sense?)

I for one preferred a little bit less organization because it promoted conversation. And people could talk about the specific things they wanted to talk about. Rather than 10 different conversations happening at the same time in the same place.

A good example I see on the front page is the WVB thread. The last 13 posts in the thread and 90% of the total posts there are links to other pages like Twitter, Youtube, or some article and there has rarely been a comment on any of them. Almost no engagement or dialog, it's just an aggregate of embedded links to other pages. The value of message boards is in the dialog, not being an aggregator of articles with no discussion. I can find news articles and headlines on my own, that's not what I come here for.

I’m on a dozen car forums and when someone comes on and says they bought a different marquee, the response is always the same and perfectly delivered. and it is: “see ya”

I’ve stopped looking at this board as a social hangout for conversation (the politics and political divide over the last 6 years has ruined me forever of social media) and started looking at is crowd-sourced news of a common like (Penn state).

If you’ve participated in or are following the thread, when you open it it will take you to the newest post for you. So, that’s the difference.

I agree 100%. The board is cleaner than in the past. There is more information than in the past, but the information is much much more difficult to access. I HATE huge multi page threads.

Well, not always.

There must be some sort of time out feature there.

For example, i just opened the Books You Are Reading thread. I had read quite a bit of it, but haven't opened the thread for months.

Today when I opened it, it took me to page 1 post 1. And thats not the first thread that has happened to me on.

This is what stupid advertising people never understand. Commercials like that create lifelong Pepsi drinkers. The recent Bud Lite commercials with Dylan Mulvaney create teetotalers.
I googled the name you mentioned.... Now I'm really confused

"Gender transition is the process of changing one's gender presentation or sex characteristics to accord with one's internal sense of gender identity – the idea of what it means to be a man or a woman,[1] or to be non-binary or genderqueer. For transgender and transsexual people, this process commonly involves reassignment therapy (which may include hormone replacement therapy and sex reassignment surgery), with their gender identity being opposite that of their birth-assigned sex and gender. Transitioning might involve medical treatment, but it does not always involve it. Cross-dressers, drag queens, and drag kings tend not to transition, since their variant gender presentations are (usually) only adopted temporarily."

After careful study of your response and an in-depth scientific examination of your analysis, my conclusion would be, stop drinking Pepsi. Consume only “Jolt Cola” you’ll be so high from the caffeine that you won’t worry about that other nonsense. The rapid beating of your heart, and fear of an imminent coronary overwhelms all other considerations. Once again, please allow me to thank you for providing me the opportunity to cogently and clearly answer your inquiry.
