Too bad it’s only select late models.

I think the general manufacturing practice that ignores remanufacturing or even prevents it as a business model is a big problem. Land fills and junk yards are being filled with materials that still have service life, but it’s easier and cheaper to buy new. The us military began designing and building vehicles that could be overhauled multiple times, replacing and refreshing as necessary. This is the model that I would want for all manufacturing. There is enough work and profit in this model that we wouldn’t miss the (virtually) disposable model that we have today.This applies to more than just cars.
