I used to play pickup with one of the guys on South Susan when he was a teen- Peter Jok.
He was at one point the top recruit in the country, at least per one recruiting site. Got injured, stock fell, and ended up having a solid career at Iowa.

No big deal, but Im kinda awesome for helping him get to this point.**

Horrific outside shooting. Anthony Edwards was 1-7 from 3.

Steph Curry is the only true outside threat and Edwards and Haliburton aren’t consistent enough.

Thats going to be their Achilles heel.

Theyre still the best team in the world but thats embarrassing. Keep in mind before the last Olympics they lost to Nigeria in exhibition.

The 2012 Olympic team would beat the Dream Team.
The 2012 team had a nice collection of basketball players, but let's not overdo it.

LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, Kevin Love, James Harden . . . now that is a great group of players.

Those guys can certainly play with the Dream Team, but I don't think they could consistently beat the Dream Team.

Magic and Stockton at point. Pippen, Jordan, Mullen and Drexler at shooting guard. Malone and Barkley at power forward. Robinson and Ewing at center. An injured Bird spotting up and raining 3s.

I'd love to see those two teams play each other.

The 2012 team might win one out of . . . hmmm . . . 8 games against the Dream Team. To win, the 2012 team would have to have a good shooting night and the Dream Team would have to be a little "off."

In most games, the 2012 team would be outrebounded badly by the Dream Team. Also, the 2012 team just wouldn't be able to stop the Dream Team offensive game.

Lastly, if we could replace Laettner with The Worm, then the Dream Team would be unstoppable, invincible, unconquerable, insurmountable, unbeatable, and untouchable.

Just simply put The Worm on any player at any position that you want to shut down . . . including any player on the 2012 team.

Who is that guy behind MJ? I am assuming he's scrappy, probably a great floor general - a coach on the court, you could say - and I'm 100% certain he's a gym rat. But I can't for the life of me recognize him.

ETA: Oh, is that Laettner? Sheesh I thought it was a short guy but now I see he's on the same level as the Mailman. The above still applies, so I'm leaving it.

Laettner, they even tried to hide him in the team photo.

The Dream Team would have a size advantage but that 12 team was deadly from 3. If they played 10 games they would win 5 each. The 12 team is arguably the best team outside of the Dream Team.

One big thing you forgot to mention. One team has Michael Jordan and the other doesn't. So yeah, we know how this is going to go.

Clyde the Glide Drexler was fast and smooth in traffic. Wonder what his 40 time would have been.

Don’t forget, the Dream Team lost an exhibition to an all star college team. Anyone is beatable.
When they had the documentary on a couple of months ago, they were saying that mj and one other player sand bagged that game to force everyone else to focus. They played a second game the next day and that all star college team basically struggled to get across half court.

I have no clue what a dream team v 2012 team game would go. Who on the 2012 team was there for name only like Larry bird in 92?

Was looking at some online comparisons of the two teams and found some interesting stuff:

1) Bryant and James believed the 2012 team would win against the Dream Team, the 1992 Olympic team considered by some the greatest sports team ever assembled. Bryant said, "[T]hey were a lot older, at kind of the end of their careers. We have just a bunch of young racehorses, guys that are eager to compete." Dream Team member Charles Barkley said that he "just started laughing" upon hearing Bryant's comment and thought the 1992 team would win by double digits. Michael Jordan added: "For [Bryant] to compare those two teams is not one of the smarter things he ever could have done... Remember now, they learned from us. We didn't learn from them." Bird joked, "They probably could. I haven't played in 20 years and we're all old now." Bryant later clarified that he thought the 1992 team was better, but it was "ludicrous" to think his team could not beat the Dream Team in one game. "You didn't ask me if we could beat them in a 7-game series," he said.

2) Like Barkley, CBSSports.com opined that only three members of the 2012 team—Bryant, James, and Durant—would have made the Dream Team.

3) NBA coach Doc Rivers felt the London team had an advantage with their outside shooting over the Dream Team.

4) Looking at the two rosters, there’s a glaring difference — the 1992 team is much larger with two traditional centers, two traditional power forwards, and even some larger perimeter players. A size advantage isn’t key for the Olympics, as the Americans have routinely run through other teams in the last few tournaments with smaller roster. But the smaller 2012 team won’t have the advantage of overwhelming athleticism, which they relied on versus larger, more immobile international opponents in the last Olympics.

5) Charles Barkley: "Listen, other than Kobe, LeBron and Kevin Durant, I don’t think anybody else on that team makes our team, to be honest with you…That’s no disrespect. I ain’t got to badmouth them. But like I said, their point guards weren’t going to beat us. That’s a no-brainer."

Of course the Dream Team guys are going to say they were better. I would be disappointed if they didn’t. The differences in the teams in this article are exactly what I said earlier, one is more perimeter oriented and the other has the size. It would be a great matchup.

They would crush the dream team. Basketball has evolved so much since then. Every player can hit the 3, bring the ball up the court, defend the perimeter and defend down low. Love the dream team but basketball players today are so much better than they were 30 years ago, it’s just reality.

International basketball is set up to be a truly team sport. We have a bunch of NBA guys who do not play as a team. They are having to learn how and the rules differences. That's what these pre-Olympic games are for. They will get better. However, the original dream team in their prime would beat these guys like little schoolgirl. That was a team you wanted to watch and really cared how good they do.

Not the same Olympic teams we’ve been discussing but this clip about Kobe is great.
Dude didn’t play around in the Olympics.

I loved watching Kobe play, and he was awesome, but I’ll always remember him for his cheap shot to Mike Miller’s neck as he cut through the lane.

The Dream Team played defense also. Big lack of defense on the 2012 unless they let LeBron foul out everyone by flopping like a little b1tch.

It wouldn’t matter which era or rules they used 2012 would dominate. If you’re saying the dream team was the better team in regards to the players on it at that time and in that era against the competition they played then you have a great argument. But if you took the 2012 team and put them on the same court as the 92 dream team and they played the 2012 team would win by 30. The 2012 team has 10 Jordan’s on it as far as athleticism goes. Basketball has grown so much internationally since then the 2012 team played much better competition as well.
