Almost as embarrassing as your post. ZZZZZZZZZ Penn State’s pre-season rating on USA Today and 75 cents will get me a soda out of the vending machine at work. What a fudging embarrassment!
You must embarrass very easily. What preseason ranking would make you happy??What a fudging embarrassment!
Agree but in today's world it helps to start in the top 20 somewhere. Still, beat Purdue and auburn and we're likely in the top 20 so no worries... B1G solves the rest.C'mon!!! You know that they say about preseason rankings... The '85 and '05 teams came from out of nowhere and had amazing runs. This team can too!

I have them at 11-11 the last two seasons, and any coach that looks at that record of performance, and the corresponding lack of 5-star recruits, would probably vote them to be a very generous #27.When you 14-12 in the last 2 seasons, this is what happens. Northwestern had the same record. They are not ranked. Win games and things will change.
So how many more 5 star recruits do each team ranked higher than PSU have?I have them at 11-11 the last two seasons, and any coach that looks at that record of performance, and the corresponding lack of 5-star recruits, would probably vote them to be a very generous #27.

Where do you work that you can get a $.75 soda from a vending machine? That's 2005 pricing!Almost as embarrassing as your post. ZZZZZZZZZ Penn State’s pre-season rating on USA Today and 75 cents will get me a soda out of the vending machine at work.

Well at least be in the top 15 or 20…..and not be ranked below #16 Pitt!

And exactly WHAT would be your justification for ranking them say #15 or so? Coming off such a stellar season with the same HC and QB? Given trends, #27 is a pretty realistic guess.Well at least be in the top 15 or 20…..and not be ranked below #16 Pitt!
I stand corrected. They were 11-11.I have them at 11-11 the last two seasons, and any coach that looks at that record of performance, and the corresponding lack of 5-star recruits, would probably vote them to be a very generous #27.
Agreed. We’re easily a top 26 team, minimum.What a fudging embarrassment!
It's easier to crack the top 4 to make the CFP, than to get Herbie to vote PSU against 'Bama to play for the championship while PSU is at #25 (assuming they move up)You must embarrass very easily. What preseason ranking would make you happy??
One of the big holes in defense is Brandon Smith. I don’t think it’ll take much for the filler of that hole to be an improvement. Some won't like this but ESPN has us at #16.
College football rankings: ESPN updates Top 25 for Week 1 - College Football HQ
College Football HQwww.si.com
Final 2021 ranking: Unranked
Record: 7-6 (4-5 Big Ten)
To make College Football Playoff: 2.0%
Where Penn State is right now: Sean Clifford back after a 3,000-yard, 21 TD outing in 2021, but there are big holes to fill on a defense that ranked third-best in the Big Ten in points allowed.
James Franklin also needs to create a strategy running the ball after finishing second-worst in the conference last season and just lost Noah Cain to LSU. Watch out for season-defining road trips to Auburn early and to Michigan in October. Ohio State comes to Happy Valley this fall.
I don't see an "amazing run". They could win 9 games if they beat Purdue.C'mon!!! You know that they say about preseason rankings... The '85 and '05 teams came from out of nowhere and had amazing runs. This team can too!
It is the PSU sour grapes duality. If we have something it is by default the best. If it isn't considered the best then whoever made that judgement was in error. And if another program is clearly better it is because they cheat, don't do things the "right way", don't do it with what we label as "class" (whatever the hell that is supposed to be).The preseason rankings only mean something to some when Penn State is ranked high. Sort of like the academic ratings meaning nothing now, but meant everything when it was ranked much higher. Funny how that works.
FIFYThis duality appears to apply to all things.
Adopting the Phila Eagles mentality for this season: "No one likes us and we don't care"

Like when Herbie spouts off complimentary BS like "best game day experience" then he is considered to be the absolute fount of knowledge. Anything else that might not be so rosy, then he is an idiot.
