And they shouldn't especially at blue blood football schools. A lot of the success there dictates everything else.

PSU's recent (and current) history of AD compensation blows those averages out of the water, FWIW.
Sandy Barbour pulled down well over $1.5 M per year (IIRC, she topped out at around $1.8 Million) - which is also right about the AAV of Pat Kraft's contract ($1.33 M per year + incentives of up to $250,000 or so). PSU also paid off an additional $1.9 MM (IIRC) that Pat Kraft owed to Boston College for breaking that contract.
