Who gives a ****? Either turn on the tv and watch the games or don’t. This isn’t life or death matters and the B1G schedule makers don’t owe anybody any explanation.
Who said this was a life and death situation? This is a PSU sports board to discuss things involving PSU, and it is summer time, there are no games to turn on and watch right now.

In 2020, they present a revised schedule, a short time later, they unequivocally cancel the season. They get criticized and see other conferences not follow, and they change their mind again.

If they are unsure of something, just don’t present it until they are sure.

Anyone who ‘didn’t sign up for this’ can transfer, right? I’d also make it so the scholarship has to be fully covered by the losing school.
You might, but we both know it doesn’t work that way. So they transfer to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo so they’re close to home. This is all bout money for the university

Didn’t it work that way with Penn State? Kids who transferred didn’t count against scholarship numbers? Okay not exactly the same but doable….

But, but mental health.
Of all the hypocrisy exhibited - time, and time, and time, and time again - by the College Sports suits, the "its all about the student athletes" may be the most tiresome and, quite frankly, disgusting bit of hypocrisy out there.
It really takes a magnificently vacuous - and soulless - person to throw up such smokescreens. I think.

Why didn’t she just say it was about the Big Ten Academic Alliance? We all know it.

When does she discover that dollars and cents provide stability?

The only problem is that Washington (and Oregon) won’t get the full member share of TV revenue over the course of this next contract. Still, the b1g is stable (for now).

After what just went down, the first person to cite academics as a reason will be laughed out of town.

But Washington and Oregon are AAU. Why do you think they were fast-tracked for membership in the b1g? 😀

Just catching up on the happenings. Sounds like a deal breaker. Isn't it all about the well-being of the "student-athlete?" BWAHAHA! Seriously though - transfer?
That’s the thing. It’s not until the 2024-25 school year. I’m not dismissing the dismay, but nowadays there’s an easy solution - enter the portal and transfer to a school that meets your needs. Or stop playing the sport and a “regular” student if being at the school is more important. Unfortunately sometimes life throws you a curveball and you have to deal with it the best you can.

Don’t any of these kids have a sense of adventure? I would think the opportunity to travel to more places would make it a bit more fun. It isn’t all bad (well, Iowa, Nebraska, and Ohio).

Don't forget the Garden State, home of the beloved rutgres Scarlet Knights. I believe you reside there. Being modest? I'm told that a night out in Camden can be exciting. A real boost to the sympathetic nervous system.

This guy gives a nice rant. For those who don’t know him he was on ESPN for a while. Guess he is in the Bay Area.

I was looking at that as well. I am thinking maybe initially right now an east/west conference. IF they add FSU and Clemson then maybe a north/south/east/west conference with winner of each playing in big 10 semi finals and those winners playing for big10 championship.
And that Championship Game should be the Rose 🌹 Bowl !! 😃

"There's no denying the significance of this," Wilcox told reporters Sunday. "This is as big a deal as it gets to be. Really kind of shocking. Personally, it's sad. ... From what I know, it probably didn't need to come to this, but things happened along the way and really unfortunate.”

"The old question of: How long would it take TV money to destroy college football? Maybe we're here," Dickert said. "To think even remotely five years ago, the Pac-12 would be in this position, it's unthinkable to think we're here today. To think local rivalries are at risk and fans driving four hours to watch their team play in a road game is at risk, to me, is unbelievable. ... We'll look back at college football in 20 years and say, 'What are we doing?'"

I bet Wilcox would sing a different tune if Cal were one of the four programs moving to the B1G!

College sports are expensive. Conference money matters a lot anymore.

So maybe 3 six team divisions, EAST: PSU, OSU, Michigan, Maryland, Rutgers, Indiana. CENTRAL: MSU, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Purdue, Illinois, Iowa. and WEST: Nebraska, Minnesota USC, UCLA, Oregon Washington.

Not sure how you would have a conference champion. I guess ideally you would have the three division champions and a wild card have a four team playoff. But that would not fly since more than likely all four of those teams would potentially be in the extended national championship playoff.
There's no chance that PSU, OSU and UM would agree to that alignment. They want to improve their odds of making the playoff which means they want out of an imbalanced division, PSU probably more than most because they are the one that hasn't made the playoff (yet). In this alignment your Central division is just like the Big 10 west is today, a complete lack of powerhouse programs and a free pass to a division championship.

Exactly...everyone who comes up with these pods or divisions gets fixated on geography....If I was the conference czar and we wanted divisions to determine the championship game, I would do it like this for football. At the end of every year (Yes the divisions would change EVERY year) I would use the final poll results and rank all 18 teams by their poll results 1 thru 18. Odd number teams are one division and even are the 2nd division for next season.

The bottom three b1g teams get relegated to the Pac 12. The top three Pac 12 teams replace them in the b1g.

It's sad how weak of a position they are in that the only reason they (Cal & Stanford) might consider the P5 conference with the weakest TV contract (ACC) is because they are in a conference with no TV contract, and which basically imploded in the past week.

But this might explain part of the reason they might consider it:
