it will never happen. with all the promotion, advertisements, new coach excitement, recruiting class excitement, and everything else, my guess is they will still only get about 6-8K.

said that 5k was the record. That article says 8k, but I have a hard time even believing that.

But no way in hell they get over 7 or 8 thousand for a Spring game. If they do, then Fedora is indeed a miracle worker.

Are they going to hold 5 spring games and tally the total to see if they get to 30,000?

haha... They do have a tendency to "double count" don't they? I go here, and until this new president, the administration of this university was a joke. Anyway, they never put 30K in the seats for an actual game in the fall, and there's no way they'll do it for a spring game. 10K is pushing it.

Those $+@@#+$ can't get 30k to a game unles they play State, Mississippi or Jackson State.

when they used to whip our *** like a rented mule on so many occasions. If they put the right package of winning and promotions together they`re gonna be a pain in the *** for Ole Miss and State again whether we play them or not. I wish they had kept Mr. Excitment ( Bower).

I agree. I have a neighbor who is a USM grad and he hasn't cared about USM football in years because he couldn't stand Bower. Now he is all pumped up and yaps nonstop about their great new coach. He is going to the Spring game too. If Fedora gets a guy like this fired up before he even has coached a game, then he might actually get the USM ghost fans to show up. You also have to give Fedora credit for that first recruiting class. Of course if his teams lose, all of this hype will disappear. Winning in CUSA is not hard to do though.

The most we've had in decades for a spring game was around 28,000 in Eli's "Grove Bowl" debut as a starter. The weather was perfect. Lots of people tailgated. Everyone was psyched about the coming of the next Manning, and we filled about half the stadium with just under 30k. That's better than what USM usually draws for a real game. There will be more there this year. They will probably even double their record of 4,000. But, whoever the hell came up with the goal of 30,000 should have their *** kicked from a PR standpoint. You never, ever should set astronomically-ridiculous goals when it's all for publicity.

I totally agree. I've met some of these die hard USM fans (which I didn't know existed until I got down here) and they have to carry a towel and some lotion around with them. I may trickle by the stadium tomorrow just to see the actual crowd, because I'm sure the announced and actual will be quite different just to maybe "save face" a little bit. I'm calling it here... they won't have over 10K

Won't have over 10K?? HAHA that is the safest bet I have ever seen. How long did it take you to come up with that one? That's like saying "I bet state will win under 9 games next year in football. Real safe bet I would say.

Im messing with you but please report back immediately after you see. Im from Hattiesburg and would like nothing more than to make fun of all my less fortunate friends who are Southern fans. TO THE TOP... sssccccrrreeeeecccchhhhh</p>

I realize it's a safe bet... But, judging by the Hburg news tonight, the papers, and everything else out there, you'd think they actually believe they are going to have 30K. It's almost comical. I'll be sure to report live tomorrow night about 6:30.

If so, they'll easily pass 30,000. (For those who don't remember, Thames was their president the year they announced they had passed MSU for the largest enrollment in the state only to later be exposed for double counting a lot of students).

I think the article said they drew 30,000 something like 8 times in the last 30 home games.

it may work and it may not but they had to do something and they did. I still say that with the right combination of wins and smarts that program has a damn good upside to it. They need a couple of signature wins instead their annual predictable losses to the "big boys" they play every year and things will start happening. AGAIN it may not happen but they`re giving it a try. Props to them.
