They got a gift on the check swing call. At best a 50/50 call, but probably a swing.
It was well beyond the plate. They only showed it once and the talking heads immediately started saying the umpire was right but it may have been a 50/50 call. That means it was a strike!
I've never wanted to be an umpire, but I have thought about what my dream call would be:
Decisive game (e.g., CWS finals game 3). I'm the 3rd base umpire. Home team down 1. Bottom of the 9th. 2 outs. Bases loaded. Left-handed hitter. Full count...
