He's developed a little bit of a personality now. The angles he takes when covering stories and the questions he asks players/coaches have improved a good deal. I guess you could say he's settled into his position. In the beginning, I felt his stories were dry and lacked a lot of substance. The more he's gotten to know the players and coaches has resulted in better stories. He had big shoes to fill when Ian Rappaport left, and while I don't think he's up to Ian's level yet (maybe that's just my bias towards Ian, because he wrote some of the best articles about MSU athletics I have ever read)...Kyle has gotten much better.

when compared to his predecessors, he has the blog and they didn't. That is a huge advantage and really allows the beat writer to give you more.

from Ian to Sekou to Kyle. The blog allows interaction.

Edit to say - Sekou should be Michael Wallace. Sekou never had the blog.

I think Sekou is still far and away the best CL beat writer we've had since I've been paying attention, but Kyle compares favorably to Ian now, which I didn't think was possible when he started. I think Gregg does a good job as well.</p>

but in a different way than Veazey. I think Sekou was just naturally a very positive guy. He came a long at a great time when MSU football was rolling and Jackie was the king. It was the perfect situation for him.

I think the mark of anyone is if they are respected even during bad times. Ian was liked even when we sucked in football.
