says that our budget will increase by 3 or 4 million. Byrne thinks part of that increase will be due to more corporate sponsorships. What a novel idea!!!!

Obviously there are two ways to improve the bottom line: 1) decreasing costs and 2) increasing revenues. For years, you had an AD that only believed that number 1 was his only option. Obviously that's changed, and you should be happy to have an AD that understands there are opportunities to actually make money. Unfortunately for us, we still have an AD that believes there is only one way to improve the bottom line. The good news is that maybe your new AD will put pressure on us to the point that we go out and get a new one, since it appears that the only way things change in this state is if your rival school steps up and does something positive.

You have an AD that is paying a football coach almost 1.5 (or more, I can't remember) than what we are. He went out and hired good basketball and baseball coaches for good money. Adding onto your baseball stadium. Not too far removed from the football upgrade. The ONLY leverage you have is the complete ignoring of the Sad Pad.

Templeton was alot worse penny pinching than Boone. Are you just trying to downplay us again, by convincing yourself that yeah, MSU is doing better, but we could too if we just had an AD. I mean, who do you think you are? Texas? Get real, pal.

How in the world you got that, from what he said is beyond me.

I really think you need to start an eggbowl board so that you can run all the recruiting smack you want to, and trash anything that anyone from Ole miss says regardless of how reasonable it may be.

I'm not sure who all of the cigar boys are (and what they own), but do you think LT would have denied certain corporate sponsors in the past because that business competed with one of his buddies' businesses? It just seems strange that Greg has had time to sell corporate sponsors in the 2 weeks he's been on board unless he knew they wanted to sponsor already. Probably a bunch of crap, but it's Friday, who cares.

for every home football game. Bill the games as the MSU-[Opponant] game sponsored by [Corporate Sponsor]. The sponsor would get advertising in the program and on the JumboTron and also could have booths set up outside the stadium.

I asked him about new media and about things like message boards, and he said he thinks the industry has "done a very poor job of managing that." Does that mean you're going to all of the suddeen see username 'gregbyrneisawesome' read and post on the Six Pack or Wardlaw's or Gene's site? No. (He'll reserve his Internet reading to The Blog, I trust.) But he said he'd rather be proactive than reactive when it comes to the Interwebs.
