I listened to the whole game. Admittedly wasn't there. But Renfroe wasn't sharp early. Made some overthrows on passes he normally makes, thus why we couldn't score. Defense dominated. Forced turnovers, was better than I expected. Got caught being a little over-aggressive with the reverse, but otherwise solid. The OL is young, and it showed. We had "trouble" running, but Nicholas Parker still managed 160 yards. The difference is Renfroe passed 24, that's right 24, times tonight. I can't think of a time we passed so much. To me this is the Norv Turner & Chargers experiment, except it is Pogue and SP. Our old formula worked, but needed some changes. He's making the changes now, and while it might cost us in the short run, we'll be better down the road. Renfroe still passed for something like 250 & 3 TDs. I think the first game jitters were his problem early. He really seemed to settle down mid-way through the 2nd quarter. We had some questionable play calling that might have cost us as well. All in all, I was happy, as we still won 27-6, and most of the problems I heard were correctable. The OL just needs some experience and coaching, which will come as they play this season. Renfroe will be off and on, and he usually is. The running game will be fine, but don't expect to see us put up 350 rushing yards with 3 guys going for 100 and another 2 going for 30 and 20. Pogue made a statement tonight: We're commited to being balanced and throwing the ball this year. But we'll still get our rushing yards. When we needed them, we got some big, clutch rushes tonight. I'm not overly concerned. We'll lose to Apopka, but no in-state team scares me. Not saying we won't lose, because I wouldn't be surprised to see us lose 1-2 more. But I also wouldn't be surprised to see us standing at 14-1 at season's end, either.
