All business, which came out when someone asked about Clifford's throwing to Dotson during the recent PSU pro day workouts and Yurcich said that wasn't relevant, which it isn't when the focus is clearly on improving the offense during each Spring practice......

One of the differences Yurcich highlighted about the what the two young QBs were used to in their high school systems verses what they are getting now was “being under center at times.” Now, I know Yurcich started this a bit last year, but should this lead us to think we will see it employed even a little more often this year? Not a big deal either way to me, but I am curious.

It's a big deal to me. Still convinced a run game is more productive when the QB is under center, RB's don't start flat footed from a shotgun set, and offensive lineman know blocking assignments pre-snap. I know that's not always a package deal, but having QB under center is a good starting point.

He could/should have answered the question about Clifford's performance at pro day.

But, he also said 'we're gonna execute better, play better, and coach better,' as a response to another question, so maybe my expectations are too high. Ah well.

I think the pressure is huge this year to right this offensive ship. Need to move away from Franklin's offensive comfort zone. Getting the QB pummeled is not a workable solution. Let the RBs do the majority of running.

I must have missed it. What happened with Clifford at the Pro Day?
Clifford was "dropping dimes" according to the observers that were there when he was throwing to Dotson. So some in the media were trying to make a fuss over it, but like Yurcich implied that has nothing to do Clifford or the rest of the offense getting on the same page and being a better offense at the end of Spring practice which is what Yurcich hoped to address in his Q&A session. Lots of QB's look good in shorts.

Thanks Greg

After some discussion on the QB room, someone asked Yancich about Clifford's participation in Pro Day and what his impression was of his performance given it's a different throwing environment. Yancich said the question has nothing to do with spring practice and said he wouldn't comment (he was also very defensive about questions about last year's offense). His actual full response was 'Yeah, I don't see any relevance for that.' Nothing about getting on the same page offensively or how anyone looks in shorts or making the offense better this spring. Awful curt response for a softball question designed to allow you to give some praise to your oft battered very senior QB. If his guard is up this early, this season should be very interesting to watch...

Who’s Yancich and what was he doing talking to the media?

They blew a lot of smoke up Clifford last year. And he played pretty good until the Iowa LB bone crushed him. The running game never got out of first gear. Passing game suffered as the schedule got harder. Played Michigan and OSU good, but stunk vs Sparty and Illinois. You could see flashes, but something went foul a lot: tackles that didn't even block... TEs who whiffed... Interior line couldn't pick up a stunt... RBs unable to hit a hole or fumbling when they did... QB throwing a head scratcher...

About the only people you couldn't complain about last year was Dotson and Washington. I think Yurcich knows that. I think he expects a lot and I wonder if he's getting to install his offense further in year 2 or if he's working the Moorhead V3.2?
