Wonder what the various administrations are going to do when the privileged class starts complaining about generator noise or excessive drunkenness and demands their money back? You know, when they turn the junction into a country club for the monied class, those ******** will start making demands like the country club set is want to do.

Get ready, gents. SEC athletic events are about to be out of reach for all but the wealthy. It'll take a bit longer at state, but it'll eventually happen.

Yea, this type of thing will hit us both later, and I've often wondered how long it will be before they start selling plots in the Grove.

I doubt they'll ever get to the point where they mark off the entire Grove and sell off every piece, but my guess is that it's not long before they start selling the spaces along the walk.

It'll probably happen in the Junction eventually as well. With it happening at Alabama, it's probably going to happen sooner rather than later.

I just can't see this happening at State anytime soon. Unless we win the west and go to the SECC, then I doubt we will have to worry about paying for our spot in the Junction.

see where it would be taht big of a deal if they sold off "plots" in the junction or grove. i mean, we have a group of at least 10 friends, so i doubt we would care about paying $80 or so a season. now if we each had to pay $800, that would be pretty crazy.

It will only cost you $729. But you get a tent and a parking spot.

Those big white tents across the street from the Junction. They are suppied by the University for a fee. They set up the tents, and tables and clean up afterwards. I'm not sure how much it costs, but it's there already.

that it would take a BC donation of $4000 plus season ticks to get you in the f'n door of the Hump?

It's coming and it's coming quickly. The "haves" of the conference are constantly creating new revenue sources. The "have nots" will copy to keep up.

The light bulb should have gone off when Auburn announced its new basketball arena with LESS SEATS than Eaves. Here's what the Auburn University is touting about their new arena:

The new arena will have a capacity of 9,600 in a very intimate setting with an emphasis on courtside seating. There are also suites that can be accessed from outside and used for basketball and football.

Some important factors about new arena: Provides intimate viewing experience for fans; provides fan amenities equal to that found in the newer NBA arenas; enhance recruiting; enhance campus environment; maximize project value to campus.

Notice the word choice, "intimate." That should be translated, "exclusive." The push in SEC athletics is toward country club type amenities offered to fans who are willing to part with large sums in order to gain entrance to the exclusive club. No riff raff allowed.

Someone posted in the basketball thread that his BC rank is in the 3,000's and he got season tickets last year. I gave $250 this year (an increase over prior years) and my rank is higher than his. I've never not been able to buy basketball season tickets except for last year when I stupidly missed the priority deadline. We turned a few people away last year, but not many.

As for Auburn's new arena, it's smaller than their old one because they have absolutely no need for anywhere near as many seats as their old arena held. They only averaged 5,392 per game last year (6,704 for SEC games). Their only game with more than the new capacity was the Bama game (10,500). Their second biggest crowd was the MSU game (7,489).

Not tailgating necessarily, but the general trend of pro games becoming products for corporate clients instead of grassroots sports fans. The college game will certainly follow their lead in time.

It will eventually happen at State. But I don't see it for quite some time. As long as we can't come close to selling the place out with full price tickets, I see no reason to fret over The Junction becoming a country club.

I'm guessing that you are a "have not" and one of the "haves" pissed on your cornflakes for giggles?

out on the wrong limb, but thanks for playing.

Full disclosure. I'm a BC member and a season ticket holder (not basketball, since I'm not a big basketball fan).

"5 years ago, would you have believed that it would take a BC donation of $4000 plus season ticks to get you in the f'n door of the Hump?" I wouldn't believe that 5 seconds ago. Who the hell would pay $4,000 to get season tickets to MSU basketball? That would be retarded.
