Was that a balk last night?

I thought the pick off last night where Lemonis argued it was a balk would lead to a thread on this and I might learn something.

Any chance one of you baseball gurus can explain whether it was?

I'll tell you up front I don't know but from the "balk" discussions I've listened to in the past if ten people answer you there'll probably be 5 yeses and 5 no's. **

LH pitchers are able to be more deceptive than RH. Looked like his leg kick was initially toward the plate, which would make it a balk. But this season, nothing is going our way. So it's just another moot point.

100% a balk. It wasn’t the placement of his plant foot that caused the balk, it was his lift foot broke the plane of the rubber in the windup. You can’t throw to first if the front foot goes behind the leading edge of the rubber.
