Was the OL decimated by injury to start the season?

The common refrain has been that the OL sucks primarily because it’s been decimated by injury. I genuinely do not recall if we entered the season with a bunch of OL injuries. I know we lost Cason in game one. But the OL completely sucked in game one before the injury bug bit. So that doesn’t seem to fully explain it.

Lost our best OL, Nichols, in the spring game. We were thin and not very talented to begin with. Anderson was looking like he would either start or at least be on the 2 deep and he was lost for the year in fall camp. So that’s 3 off the 2 deep gone after the first play of the year.

I forgot about Nichols, thanks. I guess I’m wonder what our prospects were if we only had 2 good OL to begin with.

Hughes and Fugar would have likely never seen the field. Might have been good enough to beat UNC right there to be honest. Does UT win without being able to dominate a TF OT the way they did? Does the A&M game turn out differently if Ratt isn’t running for his life all day? Not sure, but that’s a huge difference in how we’re able to operate.
