Driving in Greenville is much more exciting (and dangerous)
I watched the last half of the race and completely disagree with you. Fox's broadcast with its litany of ill-time commercial breaks and corporate sponsorships didn't help the cause though.Driving in Greenville is much more exciting (and dangerous)
If you think Nascar drivers are a bunch of "Rednecks", think again.Long ago I stopped (bored to death) watching a bunch of Red Necks driving around in a circle, turning left for 500 miles! What a waste of time.
When they race on a Road Course, I do like to watch sometimes. They actually have to shift gears, brake, strategize, turn left, and right and think!! Way to costly to a track. OVERRATED!!
It's not.I have never understood why NASCAR is considered a sport.
NASCAR dies Feb 18, 2001, It has never recovered.Quite the shame what it has become. 40 years ago it was must see TV.
I thought there were a couple more years of good racing after Earnhardt died. Maybe through 2003.NASCAR dies Feb 18, 2001, It has never recovered.
Then NASCAR execs got woke. They moved races from the south. They closed unique, historic tracks and replaced them with cookie cutter designs. They drove up ticket prices. They screwed up the points system. And finally, they replaced drivers like Earnhardt with drivers like Bubba Wallace.
An activity is not in good stead when the sudden and permanent departure of one of its participants brings the activity to its knees.NASCAR dies Feb 18, 2001, It has never recovered.

It was broke looong before then. It stopped when the cars stopped being "stock cars" and they amalgamized the cars into one indistinguishable vehicle....no more Ford v Chevy v Pontiac, etc. Just one unidentifiable car racing other unidentifiable cars. I liked it when it was actually the rednecks plus others building their own cars and racing hard against each other.....hated it ever since.NASCAR dies Feb 18, 2001, It has never recovered.

You are correct. Once NASCAR got involved with trying to make sure all the cars were "equal" by penalizing faster makes by raising the roof height and other tweaks, NASCAR became sort of a soap opera in cars. NASCAR also decided which drivers were their favorites and allowed them to break rules. Earnhardt, Gordon and Earnhardt Jr could have driven up into the grandstand to make a pass and NASCAR wouldn't have batted an eye.It was broke looong before then. I've personally been witness to Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, & Dale Jr. receiving the "golden handshake" from nascar. You are correct. Greenville's not bad except they're always shutting down Main St. Greenville is a town that knows how to capitalize on its strengths. My daughter is a senior at the Governor's School there. It took us a couple of trips around town to discover an alternate route to get there.Driving in Greenville is much more exciting (and dangerous)
You are correct. Bad is trying to drive in Boston.....worst I've ever driven in,Greenville's not bad except they're always shutting down Main St. Greenville is a town that knows how to capitalize on its strengths. That's hairy and I only did it once. Charlotte sux, but there are way worse places to drive. I technically work in Charlotte, though I never go there for work. For some reason my manager wants me to show my face there about once a quarter. I've been in that building twice since COVID started. You are correct. Bad is trying to drive in Boston.....worst I've ever driven in,
It is by definition:I have never understood why NASCAR is considered a sport.
Isn't it generally referred to as a "motorsport?" It seems to fit that broad category.I have never understood why NASCAR is considered a sport.
It is by definition:
sport
noun
an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc.
a particular form of this, especially in the out of doors.
It's kinda funny. I can remember when in no way was a NASCAR driver considered athletic... most of them anyway. Id say today, most of them can probably be considered athletic. The funny part is those guys who weren't athletic back in the day didnt get to race with breathers or breaks built in every so many laps and without the benifits of AC suits and the likes.I take "racing" in that defintion to be foot racing. What is athletic about car racing? No question it requires skill. But not athletic ability.
Sounds kinky.I've personally been witness to Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, & Dale Jr. receiving the "golden handshake" from nascar.
It wasn't a golden shower.Sounds kinky.
I retired with Dale Jr,I thought there were a couple more years of good racing after Earnhardt died. Maybe through 2003.
He's arguably the most overrated nascar driver of all time.I retired with Dale Jr,
The kid has W’s and is a Daytona 500 champion. He's arguably the most overrated nascar driver of all time.
Kyle Petty (He's arguably the most overrated nascar driver of all time.
I don't think anyone ever held him in high regard..............but he was just as good a driver as Fail Earnhardt Jr.Kyle Petty ()
I don't even compare him to his dad. I just say he was overrated. He won a ton of plate races, was good at Phoenix, Michigan, & Richmond. Scatter in a few other wins. Of the racing "sons," he couldn't hold Davey Allison's jock. He's slightly superior to Kyle Petty. About on par with Buddy Baker.I don’t argue with folks who are wrong and I almost never believe you to be wrong .
so I will merely share this for context.
26 wins at cup level (31st all time)
2 busch season championships
3 titles as a team owner
Hall of fame
While a cup season championship would be nice, its hard to catch your dad as an all time legend as the sport began to homogenize.
the case rests

I always liked Cale's Valvoline driving uniform he wore in '81 & '82.
I would not debate you on uniforms!
we can agree the sport has shipwrecked itself and allowed for F1 to skyrocket
You have no idea what you are talking about. Those "rednecks" you speak of would make you look like a third grader.Long ago I stopped (bored to death) watching a bunch of Red Necks driving around in a circle, turning left for 500 miles! What a waste of time.

It didnt. NASCARS peak popularity was well after Earnhardt died.An activity is not in good stead when the sudden and permanent departure of one of its participants brings the activity to its knees.
Because its a skill, like any other sport. Its not hard to understand.I have never understood why NASCAR is considered a sport.
Yeah? Tell us all about it?I've personally been witness to Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, & Dale Jr. receiving the "golden handshake" from nascar.
1984 Firecracker 400Yeah? Tell us all about it?
