lol. You post races, what did they do? You personally know, your words so you should be able to tell us how they did it.
Not my place to reveal secrets from trusted sources. All three was given the golden handshake from nascar, & in each instance, they were allowed to pass through inspection with a car that wasn't legal. Far as I can go.

You can garden and knit, but you cant drive a race car at 200 mph 6 inches off the car in front of you
Doesn't seem particularly difficult...but, we'll never know as NASCAR's future is very dim and may completely disappear by the time I can secure sponsorship.

Now, Formula One on the other hand, NOW you're talking!

Perhaps you would like to compare notes.
Much of the behind the scenes stuff I know was revealed to me in confidence. Lets just say my dad was a long time pit crew member for a championship team & growing up, & still after he retired, I was behind the scenes a lot.

Me too, and I'm still involved.

Ok, no need to continue with you, F1 has less viewers in the US than NASCAR who averages 4 million a race. The biggest race F1 ever had was the Miami Grand Prix and it lost in the ratings to NASCAR who was at Darlington on FS1 Class dismissed

Obviously many people here don't understand the stress on the body, the heat factor alone would eliminate many here, and the skills required are amazing. To say it isn't difficult and to compare it to gardening and knitting just shows an ignorance of the entire sport. I no longer watch it but it isn't because it it isn't a sport.

4 million and dropping like a rock, Billy Bob. F1, with its global appeal, is the ascending star here...sponsors realize the F1 fan is more valuable to them. NASCAR is clearly falling behind other motorsports in a new era of television. Formula 1 and IndyCar are on the rise while NASCAR is slowly declining on a weekly and yearly basis. Sponsors are leaving NASCAR: Mars joins a multitude of major companies and brands like Lowe's, Home Depot, 5-Hour Energy, Target, Dollar General and Sprint that have exited or are exiting NASCAR entirely over the past decade.

from what little NASCAR i've seen, races really only need to about 5 laps or so long. my brother in law watches the start of the race, falls asleep, then wakes up to watch the end. does anyone actually sit an watch the tv for the entire duration of the race?

Its not declining, numbers are up and sponsors have been coming and going since the sport began. Bottom line it outdraws F1 in the US and it isnt even close.

He was in NASCAR, or a Team?
Teams. Worked on 4 different ones from the early 70s-the late 80s. Stayed involved as a consultant until 2000. When Brian France took the reigns, he was outta there. Predicted a sinking ship.

The popularity of Formula One in America has continued to rise in 2022 after ESPN released their record-breaking viewing figures at the end of the season.

NASCAR has suffered with declining attendance for years from its heyday in the early 2000s, when it was routinely drawing crowds well over 50,000 to 100,000 essentially for every Cup Series race. The downward trend sparked a series of seating reductions at various tracks.

NASCAR averaged 2.93 viewers across Fox and NBC Sports in 2021, down 4 percent from last year (3.06 million) and 6 percent from 2019 (3.11 million), according to Sports Media Watch.

The sport's revenue depends on the popularity of the sport. Both NASCAR and Formula 1 are popular motorsports. But F1 is more global than NASCAR, thanks to the schedule and viewership.

F1 is an after thought in the USA and its the most boring racing on the planet, Even Juan Montoya said he watches the first lap and goes and does something else and he was a multi time winner. Its just getting a boost because of the Netflix series. It will drop like a rock.

HA!! NOTHING more boring than five hours of left-hand turns. But, given the demographics of the NASCAR fan, that is enough to keep him/her mentally occupied. You can kiss NASCAR good-bye...long live the king, Formula One!

No, Billy Bob, you're wrong...it is getting close.

Unfortunately for NASCAR, sports fans are going in other directions. Formula 1 is more popular worldwide, but NASCAR held the edge in America. Now, Formula 1 and IndyCar are slowly closing the gap on NASCAR, even if the latter is still technically more popular.

The richest companies in the world are also the smartest financially. They know how to make money. They study demographics, attendance and television ratings and use the information to decide who they want to sponsor. When companies see declining ratings or attendance and fans looking elsewhere, they have no reason to sponsor NASCAR.

Therefore, NASCAR is losing sponsors because they are losing fans. Companies that once saw value in sponsoring the organization or individual teams no longer see that value. The more fans who watch IndyCar or Formula 1 the more former NASCAR sponsors know they can earn a higher profit margin.

Copy and paste? You're a technological genius, Billy Bob! Wonder where my copying and pasting is coming from...it's coming from informed business sources whose existence depends upon being accurate. FACT: Formula One and NASCAR futures are heading in opposite directions.

Respectfully, I'd rather keep mine & his anonymity. I'll just tell you he has multiple Winston Cup replica trophies that were given to him as well as multiple Daytona 500 wrist watches that were given to members of the teams he was on that won it. You may know him. If you were around racing from the 70s-90s like you claim, you have most likely bumped into both he & I.......................you just didn't have the pleasure of knowing it at the time.

Did you read the notes lol? you and Rod arent to bright.
Perhaps you overlooked the column titled "Up/Down," Billy Bob. It clearly showed all three races' viewership were "Down."

Well, I'm dismissing you now as you no longer amuse me and I'm now finding you a boor.
