I just don't see how this is going to be successful .
I can't imagine having to set in a darkened theatre sitting in a chair surrounded by people I don't know, paying outrageous prices for soft drinks, and snacks vs. watching at home, pausing the game for trips to the bathroom, the grill, fixing up a plate of food, etc, and being surrounded by friends and/or family.
I seriously doubt I'm alone here.

I feel the same way about going to movie theaters to watch a movie.
Anybody with me on this?

At first, I thought you were being facetious, describing an experience somewhat similar to the in-stadium experience (minus the live play, of course).

I don't know, I guess I can see the appeal of watching a big Carolina bowl game in a theater with a bunch of other Gamecock fans. I watched our baseball national championships and women's basketball national championships from the comfort of my living room couch. I enjoyed those games thoroughly, but there is something special about sharing a moment like that with other fans. If the Gamecocks ever play in a football national championship game, I would totally embrace the idea of watching it at Colonial Life Arena, or as a 2nd option, in a theater, with other Gamecock fans.

For a regular game, not so much.

If I were a lot younger than I am, I would have many more years remaining in which I didn't do this.

I was thinking about how you could make this work…then I just ended up thinking about Live at the Battery. Great place!

I watch games the old fashioned way. In person, at my house (living room or dock), or in a bar. The D option is not a theater. It is on my phone when there is not another option.

I have a vague memory of watching a game in 1993 as a student on campus at some type of theater or maybe it was somewhere in the Russell house?, when we played at Arkansas, we blew a double digit lead if I recall correctly, this was after the UGA win with Bennett over the top.

I used to do this to see the Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Leonard, Duran, Hearns, Hagler fights (boy, I miss those days)! They were spectacular, however, I totally agree with your position on college football in movie theaters.

Back in the day they used to do closed circuit broadcast of games at the colosseum. Saw Carolina beat Michigan at the big house in 1980 on one of them. We had a great time.

I can't imagine many worse ways to watch a college football game than in a dark, dingy dungeon. There's not much I love more than opening the windows an a gorgeous fall day and sitting down to watch college football.

It's hard for me to think of many less enjoyable ways to watch a college football game than in a dim and gloomy basement. Few things bring me more joy than throwing open the glass windows on a beautiful autumn day and settling in to enjoy some college football.
