How are they not ranked in the top 25? What kind of record do you have to have???

They just won their 12th in a row.

The biggest flaw in the volleyball ranking system is that there is no media poll. It’s coaches only.

Most of these coaches haven’t seen Mississippi State play and aren’t used to voting for Mississippi State. That should change after this year.

It’s a running joke. We’ve been the worst program in the SEC for the better part of 30 years. The coaches just can’t rank us because it makes no sense. You also have to realize that VB is very Big Ten and West Coast dominated. That’s why there are three WCC teams ranked and their conference RPI is 9th and the SEC has two ranked teams with a conference RPI of 4

We will make it in tomorrows poll. But I’d like to see them left out so we win the SEC without being ranked.

SEC isn't a strong VB conference.

Yet Kentucky won the NC last year and Florida was in the semi's or quarter round. The SEC is better than what the majority gives it credit and just like all other sports it won't be long until the SEC starts dominating in Women's Volleyball as volleyball is getting more popular in the south.

Yep. Kentucky winning the national championship was the first time an SEC team had ever won it.

Volleyball in the South is similar to where softball was in the late 90s/early 00s. You'd have a Southern team pop up every once in a while but never win it. Now the SEC gets 11-13 bids to the softball NCAA tournament year in and year out. Its been mentioned that we don't have a lot of Mississippi talent (neither does Ole Miss) - thats about to change. MSU's recruiting class this year is ranked in the top 20 Next years class in Mississippi is really strong. Darty is building something. She's going to get some much needed renovations to the Griss this offseason.

When LT moved the volleyball team from the Hump to Newell Grissom, he had Mississippi State volleyball painted on the wall and said that was that. The building did not even have air conditioning. It was a horse show barn.

They have a nice locker room and video board now. But its still very dark in there and there are wood bleachers in most of the seating area. There are about 1000 chair backs out of 3000 capacity.

Gonzaga competes for NCs each season and either St Mary's or BYU is often in contention to win a couple of tournament games, but nobody claims the WCC is a strong basketball conference. Its averaged probably 9th best over the last decade.

To be clear, I bet the SEC will be viewed as a strong vball conference before the WCC is viewed as a strong cbb conference.

Are there really 1,000 chairbacks there now? What type of attendance do they have now? When I went to a match in 1999 there less than 100 people in the building.
