So, you all think the discussion about moving on has already been had with Arnett and the coaching staff?

He's my favorite on paper and what appears to be a realistic get for us on the surface. Would he want to coach here? No clue. I suspect he's going to have a few offers to consider very shortly.
I don't know much about him, but I'm assuming he is good at recruiting and has some bravado. He would certainly use us as a stepping stone and I'm ok with that.

I feel like arnett has been told something or he just knows. He was probably last December we expect you to win when he took the job and we will see how it goes this year. It made some comment after the first game about improving and he said we better or we won't win much and I won't be here. I think he might have been told. You need to win x and then we can talk about you staying but if you don't and don't look good we will move on at the end of the season.

Based on his in game demeanor and off the field activity like recruiting, I feel as if he’s either mentally quit or already been told that he won’t be returning
Maybe he was told that in August?

Good success at Houston (a program known for mediocrity before and after he left) better success at UT than the guy he replaced. Presidential scholar/MENSA member. Has had success recruiting. While at UT dealt with tons of booster and outside interference on a scale we could never imagine. Nice lookin' old lady. NFL experience. I doubt his buyout is much and he probably wouldn't demand a salary that would break the bank. Polished public speaker. Has some bravado. Won a title as OC at TOSU. Still fairly young, 48. Hopefully looking to redeem his career.

Rumored to be the person who alerted reporters that Zach Smith, former TOSU assistant, had some domestic abuse issues (don't know if this is a plus or con). Has been "meh" at FAU, but other than when Lane was there, the program has been shite.

How did he do at Texas? Had a massive recruiting budget? Why did the blue bloods oppose him so much?

Still have a hard time understanding why so mediocre at Texas with a massive recruiting budget. Got to be a concern. Where is he now?

Herman may be an absolute failure, I have no idea. That being said, Texas has been a special kind of dysfunctional because of their alumni. Maybe he sucked or maybe the alumni were too involved. I have no idea.

I'm pretty sure 9 out of 10 coaches say the same thing. That's what they get paid for.

Supposedly at Texas he had a lot of interference from boosters and then rubbed a few media people the wrong way and everything started going downhill. Google it. There is a nice story about his whole career. Also remember he is following Willie T at FAU. He is a program destroyer

Here you go. This was his record at Texas

32-16 record

The Longhorns had a winning record in all four seasons he was at the helm, including four wins in bowl games. Herman accumulated a 32-16 record during his time at Texas.Dec 1, 2022
