If they are parked illegally, why shouldn't they get a ticket? I could see an argument that the athletic department should have made some sort of accommodations for parking, but I don't see how you can blame the police for ticketing cars that are illegally parked.

It's just more incompetence on the part of the University, that's all.

It will be a great day here when the PSU and SCPD parking junta/cabal is brought down.

That said, it wouldn't be at all surprising if PSU athletics invited people but didn't make parking arrangements and left invited guests to fend for themselves in university's version of "The Parking Games."

It's summer session FFS. There's hardly anyone on campus. Surprised they didn't have Walks tow them all so the could get the kickbacks.

Yep. Athletics knows the parking rules but likely told these folks to park wherever rather than making proper arrangements. I know this because I have had friends attend athletics non- games events and they weee told they could park anywhere, which was not the case. And they got tickets.

Just like almost everything on social media, I’m sure the Twitter pic and commentary doesn’t tell the whole story.

Those tickets aren't worth a **** đź’© and can't be enforced unless they're enrolled at PSU so all these folks need to throw them in the garbage. Still not a good look though for recruits and parents. Hey @PSUFTG get on this.

Ahhhh yes…… Blame Penn State Parking when Penn State Athletics could have, and should have provided parking or clear instructions from the start.

Not necessarily.Tickets could be turned over to a debt collector. Not fun if it happens.

Almost every college campus in the country plays the parking ticket game. Issuing parking tickets is so engrained that they can't help themselves. I'd understand if it was mid-semester and people were parking all over center campus without any permit. You're 100% correct. It's summer session and it looks like those vehicles are parked way the hell out by the IM fields. In the background is the observation tower at the Blue Band facility.

I found the answer when trying to find the article for you. I'm not a big fan of Josh, but at least someone took on the Centre County parking mafia. Can't say he won though.

Buffalo Police ticketed patrons for the grand reopening of the AKG art gallery. Don’t parking enforcement officers exercise some discretion when issuing tickets, based on the circumstances? Or do they just get off on it? AKG wanted a lot of people for the reopening. A lot of people showed up, like they wanted. It was a good thing. The AKG reopening is a big deal to Buffalo. They also want return patrons. Way to go to make people want to come back BPD!!

Don’t think any of them do business on campus.
