Almost every college campus in the country plays the parking ticket game. Issuing parking tickets is so engrained that they can't help themselves. I'd understand if it was mid-semester and people were parking all over center campus without any permit. You're 100% correct. It's summer session and it looks like those vehicles are parked way the hell out by the IM fields. In the background is the observation tower at the Blue Band facility.
So they just should allow vehicles to park anywhere in the grass or along the road they want? Guess the entitled parents couldn’t park in parking spaces 100 yards away. It sucks, but no shortage of parking spaces available in the summer.

Does the physical plant own tow trucks or do they use private contractors?
University does not own tow trucks, except to recover university vehicles that break down. Those are flatbeds, not actual tie vehicles.

Can't the family of a recruit on an OV just turn this in on the expense report? Lol
I would bet most of those tix (if not warnings when issued) would likely be changed to warnings if they are not ******** when they call. Honey > Vinegar. I have gotten a lot of assistance over the years when calling companies to complain, but being nice and letting me know how much I would appreciate their consideration or help instead of being the pissed off/angry customer from the start (even if I was seething inside).

Doesn’t Franklin have something in his binder for this?
I suspect Franklin or one of his many AD's or AAD's has already phoned the Upark Police and advised them of their poor judgement. If anything adverse ever happens in the future, Franklin will now be known as the coach who ran PSU.

I bet the only folks with more tix than PSU student athletes are the PSU coaches.

Just another example of the lack of good will that Penn State formally had. It was that good will which made PSU special. Now, nada.

These kids and their parents could easily cover those parking tickets had Jay not screwed up NIL.

If I’m not mistaken, the NCAA could consider this an “added benefit” if the parking rules ARE NOT enforced for student-athletes and their families.

BTW, I would suggest the organizers knew better. Don’t blame the University.

True story.
A friend arrives at the Lasch at 6:00 am. He’s there all day with the players and the snow starts falling very early in the morning. When he leaves the facility late afternoon, he has a parking ticket.
Reason given?
Parking sticker not visible.
There was 6+ inches of snow on his windshield.

I don’t believe it. The enforcement officers are Teamsters. They would likely file a grievance if they had to go out in the snow to patrol the lots.

I’m sure it’s absolutely true. My brothers degree is an animal science so he had. I believe it was a red parking pass to let him park in Almost all of the lots as well as being able to drive university vehicles.

He was in working at one of the animal research centers and had to come back over semester break a few days early. I was packing up my stuff over break as I had just graduated so he asked me to help with some thing in the animal sciences building. We probably could’ve just parked in lot 80 since it was about empty but since he had the pass as well as he was driving it a university pick up truck with the medallion on the door, he went and parked right up next to the steps in the closest spot. We came out about an hour and a half later and sure enough there was a ticket. Thankfully, he showed his boss and they took care of it but we couldn’t believe that he got a ticket over break in a university vehicle with the correct pass.

^ I have a better story than that. Knew someone retiring after 30 yrs at the University. Over winter break they were clearing out their office and were parked along the curb in the lot, probably counted as the fire lane as well.

They came out and had a ticket even though University was deserted. Parking Office was closed for the break. We determined it was Campus Police that issued the ticket.

Then just pay off a handful of tickets for regular students too in order to avoid punishment. Has UNC taught us nothing?

Other Universities fight the NCAA and say FU don't get bothered. We are bullied by the NCAA and you are worried about taking care of parking tickets. SMFH

Except these aren't "student-athletes." They are high school kids attending a camp/combine/competition. NCAA has no jurisdiction. But don't tell Lubrano he's pissing on the wrong fire hydrant.
