We didn’t want Kiffin

He is a VERY good offensive coach.

I would hire him. Maybe he leaves for a step up in jobs at some point, but that would mean he at least did a good job here in the mean time.

I'm less annoyed with Kiffin than I was. In fact, I get a kick out of his sense of humor. Seems like he's become a good coach AND program manager with OM. He's damn sure winning and I don't know of any reasons I would not support him as our coach. Considering what he's done in his time at Ole Miss I'm impressed.

We don't have to have a lot of conversation about him coming here though. Why would he?

I seem to agree. If a coach were here and having that kind of success you just pay him. Winning cures the money issues for the most part. If we have SEC money then we should spend SEC money to get a winner.

I highly doubt Lane had any interest whether "we" wanted him or not
He was OC at Alabama, completing his second year, in 2015 when we hired Muschamp.

This was a year before he went to Florida Atlantic as Head Coach.

He was not a hot commodity at that point, he would of had interest, we were coming off the Spurier era.

He was a failed Head Coach a few times over, at that point, but if you were going to hire a failed Head Coach like Muschamp, he made more sense.

Few people suggested him, on the old board, only the most intelligent football savy posters, and they got slammed, called drunk, etc.

I remember EXACTLY what you are saying. I didn’t like him then and don’t now. I just want to win again. Been a fan since the Carlen years.

I was hoping that we would fire Muschamp and hire Kiffin from Florida Atlantic in like 2019/20. But no, Tanner kept Muschamp.

Now we have Beamer- who i hope does great things. But he was an unknown who wasn’t like on anyones radar for HC. I say if next season, Carolina doesn’t have a winning one. Beamer and Tanner both have to go. Or we’re doomed.

He’s matured a lot and turned into a great HC. People forget this is his 5th HC gig. He was fired on the tarmac at SoCal. And his time with the raiders was a disaster. I’m glad he got it together. He makes it fun.

Ole Miss has had other coaches with questionable character. Petrino, Oregeron, Freeze. Lack of character leads to a shortened tenure and sometimes a blemish on the schools reputation, I would prefer to not go down that road. Winning at all costs is not my goal and I hope not our Universities goal either.

I don’t know if Kiffen has questionable character. I’m sure there’s things he’d like to do over from his time as a very young HC.

Funny how posters do this every year when a coach has a good year somewhere. Gotta love the can’t miss coaches search crowd. They are correct 33% of the time.

I could agree, but the Kiffen conversation has gone on since we hired Beamer. His imminent "demise" has been a good joke to laugh at.

Along the same line of thinking, will it change anyone's opinion IF Liberty is somewhat competitive with Oregon? So many have dismissed Chadwell that I wonder if anything would ever move the needle for them.

I will cheer for him/them, as I like the underdog.

But they are so overmatched that it probably won't be close. To be honest, I haven't read about Oregons opt outs. If it's anything, that could help make the game interesting.

That was the coach I wanted. I’ll be watching and wondering “what if”.

Ole Miss with a comparable schedule, except for Clemson, is projected to be a pre-season national Top 5 team. Missouri, while not as difficult a schedule, is being talked about making the playoffs next year. Many of our fans are bellyaching and making excuses about the schedule, hoping for 6 wins in Beamer's 4th season.Go figure. The difference between us and the other 2 is that Ole Miss and Missouri have coaches who can "do more with less". I guess that's what happens when you go the Baby Nepo hiring route.
